Having been through Martin, Gibson, Taylor, Lowden, I hope the next one will be a Larrivee. Then I'd be in the used market. :-) Oh yeah, forgot about that 00-09. I just got an L-03K (koa), loving it. Of course, our boy got the vote for album and artist of the year. I was quite shocked that Rod Picott didn't get enough votes to be one of the five finalists. He is an amazing songwriter and storyteller. Incredibly funny, too. I opened up for him at a house concert in November and it was too much fun. I think people from this list would love his stuff I'd be very interested to hear what people think after giving him a try. I think you can still download some songs from his website (www.rodpicott com) . Consider this my PSA of the day! The nominees weren't listed yet. Carrie in KC ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Jan 2005 11:12:54 -0500 From: "Elizabeth R. There are a few song clips, but no mp3 songs available for downloading. He's not bad. Reminds me of someone...is it Springstein? Would like to hear his lastest cd. Think I'll check the library. Thanks for the tip. I've been listening to Kevin Welch ( speaking of no votes!). I'm not sure where I found his name. Was it on this list? Anyway, I discovered a couple of cds of his at a surplus store for $1.50 and bought them. (Millionaire and Beneath my Wheels) I like this guy's stuff...at least alot of the cuts. A few on the Millionaire cd are a bit noisy. I believe he's billed as country but he doesn't have that typical country sound. He does a little bit of everything. His songs are interesting and some are depressing (which of course I enjoy). Investigated a bit on the web; his latest cd is with Kieren Kane and from the clips I listened to on Amazon, this has a bluegrass/ country/ blues sound which I'm not sure I like. Has anyone out there heard of him? I think he deserves better than the surplus store cds might indicate. Enough digressing...I voted for Richard and Vuelta.
