I found them so compelling that I had to share them in the hope that they would enlighten and reveal a 'secret of life': <<...It found that in general the group woke up a little grumpy but soon entered a state of mild pleasure that increased by degrees through the day, punctuated by occasional bouts of anxiety, frustration and anger. Predictably, the researchers found that commuting to work, housework and facing a boss rated as the least pleasant activities, while sex, socializing with friends and relaxing were most enjoyable...>> What a scientific breakthrough! Wife says, "Hey Big Bad Bart, rough day at work? Why don't you get a beer and come-on over here. We'll take a nap. Later, I'll make you some bacon & eggs. With smoke flavor." "EEEMmmmmm, Smoke Flavor." I know listening to him during my hour commute makes me a lot more pleasant! As to casting...how about Richard Gere? He looks pretty hot on the cover of my AARP magazine!!! I've always thought that Richard looks a TON like Kevin Spacey. It's the way he smiles, I think. - --Chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Dec 2004 20:27:28 +0000 From: "TRICIA MULLANE" Subject: [RS] Kevin Spacey "I've always thought that Richard looks a TON like Kevin Spacey." Wow, I really don't see this. I just went through a bunch of pics of both & I still don't see it. Anybody have links to pictures of them that may look similar? - ---Tricia ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Dec 2004 21:16:02 EST From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] Last Fare - Second Couple Theory >> Last Fare remains one of those rare songs whose impact has not diminished over many listenings. I still get that little pull I first felt when I hear the 'Hope and Grace' line. Brilliant. << Oh, my, yes. While I still think that "Last Fare" on the album is an epic song still in search of the definitively epic recording, I'll never forget hearing the song for the first time at The Knitting Factory in the spring of '03. Actually, it was also the first night I heard "Gray Green" and "Che Guevara T-Shirt." Easily the best Richard show I've ever seen, and the fact that Tracy Grammer joined him on violin for the best version of "Reunion Hill" ever done made it even more special. But I think I can safely say that in all my years of listening to music -- except, perhaps, for the first hearings of "Wisteria" and Patty Griffin's "Rain" - -- I've never been so absolutely knocked out by a song on first hearing as I was with "Last Fare" that night. And it was the Hope/Grace line that did it. Yeah, I think you could call it brilliant. RG ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V6 #309 ***********************************
