Its a wonderfully eccentric venue (books, CDs, food, wine), great people, and tres intimate. Amy Rigby and a local couple share billing. Gravity Lounge is just off the west end of the downtown mall, a converted street several blocks long thats wonderful, lots of shops and restaurants. There is parking on other side, but especially the south side. Ill try to get him play The Weather. Or Out Beyond the Iron Gate, or.actually, I wish he would just play what he feels like playing. Just read that he's been doing "Famous Blue Raincoat," a great song IMO, esp. Cohen's version. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Oct 2004 18:39:19 -0400 From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: [RS] The Che Trail. From today's USA Today. RG _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Here's a revolutionary idea: A tour based on Che's forays. The legendary guerilla's beret-toppped visage has graced posters and T-shirts on college campuses worldwide, and he's the focus of a new movie, "The Motorcycle Diaries," that chronicles his coming-of-age travels across the rough South American terrain. Now, dewy-eyed radicals and intrepid tourists can retrace Argentina-born Ernesto "Che" Guevara's doomed effort to transplant the Cuban revolution to Bolivia, where soldiers executed him in 1967. The "Che Trail," a self-guided five-day trek through remote stretches of one of Latin America's poorest countries, includes stops at Quebrada del Yuro, where the wounded revolutionary was captured, and La Higuera, where he died. Yes, Ron, Richard almost always messes up Arrowhead. << Indeed. Messed it up here in SD as well. The mess-ups usually come when he doesn't match the first and last lines of each verse. I've almost come to look forward to seeing in which verse the inevitable gaffe will come! The Tupelo Music Hall used to be the Grey Goose which Richard used to frequent. A nice intimate room with tables. Richard played solo...and was really on! His guitar playing was better than I have ever seen it before...and he was very talkative. The covers were all great esp. the Carter song which I have heard many do. Big Muddy, Che Guevera, and Last Fare rocked and were very intense. Richard was also very political. On Transit, which was a request, he forgot a verse but made good light on stage about it. Set list: Fenario Waist Deep in the Big Muddy (Pete Seeger) There Goes Mavis Che Guevera Shirt AP Carter song Cancion Secilla - -intermission- Reunion Hill Fishing Leonard Cohen cover Are You Happy Now? Waiting for the Storm Last Fare of the Day America (Paul Simon) - -encore- Transit Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start. We finish. ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V6 #231 ***********************************
