Thanks for putting up the link to hear the songs. Unfortunately I have to say "Courier" blows it away. Maybe the songs will grow on me or there is something in them that will catch my ear. By the way check out "Impossible Dream" by Patti Griffin. It is excellent. I hope when the cd becomes avalible, they will have plenty so the supply doesn't get wiped out by other rabid fans like me. while I enjoy any snippet I can get, to my somewhat musically trained ear, the cuts sounded very pared down and I really didn't hear many other instruments? Are these the final versions- anybody know? I don't mean to be nit picking, but I had visions of Waste Deep being a hard driving, electric version that could become the rallying antiwar song of our time. the live rendiiton I heard was almost dissonant and quite stirring. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Jul 2004 10:37:56 -0700 (PDT) From: adam plunkett Subject: Re: [RS] preview cuts I have yet to play the new previews(thanks to everyone!) but from the 30 second previews, I personally like how much of Richard's guitar was at the forefront. It is something I wish more singer-songwriters did. I also was happy to hear the international instruments but that didn't drown out Shindell, if that makes sense. (AS for "Muddy" being a hard driving electric version...I could be wrong but that just isn't Richard's style...he has written many anti-war songs and he has never recorded in that way really.) So, I guess, it's all a matter of perspective. :) Can't wait for the new album.
