(The title refers to Billie Holiday) As I understand it, the album isn't doing very well and I have no idea why. It is great and any Richard fan will love it. "there are voices on the wind stolen whispers, sacred moans you can hear them through you skin and the singing of the bones when the wind blows form the east i can taste her on my tongue and the grave is lined and paved with all the songs we never song" - - Janis Ian - Billie's Bones Paul ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Apr 2004 11:05:37 EDT From: Bobdog25nj@aol.com Subject: [RS] There Goes Mavis Hey All: Just got my once-a-month e-mail newsletter thingy from NYC station WFUV-FM, which many here know of and are members of. The newslettey has a link that says if you click it, then you can sign in ( as a memeber) and here Richard's "There Goes Mavis" from the recent interview he did with Claudia Marshall. Doesn't help anyone who is not a member of FUV I guess, but it's nice that they seem excited about new Richard songs too. I tried to copy and paste the link here, but didn't seem to want to copy, so I gave up. If you are a member, and you go to the website, I would guess you can find it. Also, the smae e-mail newsletter mentions a live concert from Patty Griffin coming up on WFUV, in support of her new album. I think the date of the show was April 14th, but that may not be the same date as the broadcast. Still, good news. I love Patty Griffin. bye...Bob Paterson ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Apr 2004 18:01:14 +0100 From: "Dave McKay" Subject: [RS] RE: Albuelita > Does anyone know what the word means? First of all, and this of course goes without saying, Richard was great -- and he played for about two hours (there was no opener tonight). He played many songs from the new album (which should be out in August and which he just put some finishing touches on in NYC in the last few days -- including some backup vocals with Lucy). Sounds like the set list was pretty similar to the other recent shows people have reviewed. Not sure about the other shows, but for this one Richard was accompanied on piano by a guy whose name completely escapes me now, but it was "something something-ovich." Anyway, this guy was pretty amazing on the keyboard. Not in the right order, and not a full list, but among the songs played were: Mavis Simple Song (the new spanish song) Che Guevara t-shirt Fenario Muddy Summer Wind Arrowhead Reunion Hill Next Best Western Sonora's Death Row Fishing Are You Happy Now Transit Last Fare America Now for the big question -- I know it's new, but does anyone have the lyrics to the Spanish song? - m ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V6 #74 **********************************
