Wachusett Community College, in Gardner Mass., Gray-Green was definitely in standard (or "King's tuning" as he explained). I had gotten used to it in DADGAD. I also like "SSTW" in DADGAD. Maybe it depends on what kind of licks and fills sound better for "lead" guitar parts as to which tuning to use? For this amateur picker, the more DADGAD the better; it justifies even more the keeping of another guitar dedicated to DADGAD. :-) Greg Z ____________________________________________________________ Find what you are looking for with the Lycos Yellow Pages http://r.lycos.com/r/yp_emailfooter/http://yellowpages.lycos.com/default.asp?SRC=lycos10 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Apr 2004 10:53:07 -0400 From: "Michael Bevel" Subject: [RS] RE: Willy Porter Still another fan checking in. Ironically, the first time I heard Willy Porter he was opening for Richard at Apel Farms in Southern NJ. It was the first concert for my daughter (then age 8) and she was treated to not just one, but two great performances (and she got to meet them both as well). Just like with Richard, if Willy is in your area, don't miss an opportunity to see him live. He really knows how to connect with an audience and puts on a great show. Speaking of covers, he used to perform a cover Brian Cutean's "Food" as an audience participation song at his shows that served to both get the show started as well as to make a statement that we need to "be here now" (a phrase he repeated often both in his show and while talking to fans afterword). Haven't been fortunate enough to see him perform with Martin (although did catch him a couple of years back opening for Jethro Tull -- Martin's day job). Imagine it's like the joy of seeing Richard and Lucy share a stage. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 05 Apr 2004 20:15:28 -0400 From: Mary Mccarthy Subject: [RS] Albuelita Does anyone know what the word means? Michael Bevel <<< Willy does definitely have stage presence, and yes, he did the audience participation song too, and boy did we come up with some winner words (daganga, divorce, Willamette, valley of death, etc.,) and he had people crying with laughter, pretty funny guy. It was cute that he was talking about his new baby son, much in the same way as Lucy was about her daughter just a few weeks ago. Interesting thing, even though it was requested, he did not sing "You Stay Here", afterwards as he was talking to his and my friend Brian Cutean, I asked why he didn't play it, he really didn't have an answer, but he did remark that when he played it with Richard he made the mistake of saying "You stay here, and I'll go get beer", guess, perhaps understandably, that didn't set too well - -- he did take notice of my pin and spoke about how sad he was the day he heard Dave had passed. Abuela means grandmother. Abuelita is an affectionate form of the word. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 Apr 2004 02:05:22 -0400 From: Norman Johnson Subject: [RS] and her injury at the hand of an Almighty memory I haven't seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind yet but I've read that the title comes from Alexander Pope's "From Eloisa to Abelard". Maybe Heloise's injury is the memory of being banished. Norman ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V6 #73 **********************************
