College Folk Festival and found a link. http://www.ncc.edu/collegerel/news/03_04/032404.html Hope it works for you. Now that others have reminded me, I too, remember a line... and having to wait for other people to leave before you could get in. The program seems to list Richard and Lucy separately. Any chance this means we will get two hours altogether? My fear is that they will both play together and that they will only play one hour.... which will fly by and seem like 5 minutes. But hey... it'll be a great 5 minutes. Also... the WFUV website now says Richard will be interviewed thursday morning, which makes sense since the NCC Folk thing is thursday night. There is a e-mail address for Claudia Marshall on the www.wfuv.org website. I bet Claudia would be happy to hear from at least a few richard-listers before she does the interview. Like maybe you could suggest questions you would ask yourself. If I can remember, I plan to ask her to ask Richard about the evolution of the song "Last Fare Of the Night" ... ( do I have the title right?)... The last time I saw him live, he played that song... and the audience was audibly stunned... a period of 15 seconds went by before anybody clapped... people were so caught up in the emotion of the song. I myself especially liked the way the song ends... if I remember right... Richard found a way to work the words Hope and Faith into the song... First and only song about nine-eleven that I have heard that has an upbeat ending. I would guess Richard will play it Thursday night... it is a New York audience after all. See ya... I think it may actually be Richard's best. Also, regarding upbeat songs about 9/11, don't forget Mark Erelli's "The Only Way." Having never met any fellow listserver fans, I would love to orchestrate some sort of informal gathering to say hello and match faces to the various names here. Anyone interested? I highly recommend the venue to anyone who is thinking about coming to the show; I'm not exactly a connoisseur of folk clubs, but I'm told by all and sundry that Passim is excellent, and my own impressions agree with this. I will be attending the 7:00 show (he also plays at 10:00), but I'd love to get together and meet fellow listserver junkies at any point during the evening. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2004 11:18:57 -0800 (PST) From: adam plunkett Subject: Re: [RS] a URL for Nassau Folk Festival Ellis Paul does a great version of this song on his album with Vance Gilbert. It is a great, great song...about 9/11 but isn't a song that gets dated, in my opinion. - --- Rongrittz@aol.com wrote: > Also, regarding upbeat songs about 9/11, don't > forget Mark Erelli's "The Only Way." > > Lyrics to both can be found here: > > http://members.aol.com/rongrittz/page/chords.htm > > RG __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? You gotta be careful with that "ripped from the headlines" stuff. I mean, as heartfelt as Lucy's "Land of the Living" is, it sure seems like old news by now. In my opinion. Besides, "Last Fare of the Day" simply has 9/11 as a backdrop for the first verse; it's not really ABOUT the tragedy.
