The sound system is awful to the point of being laughable and the set will undoubtedly be short, sandwiched between other acts that will have you scratching your head as to what the booker was thinking. Finally, there will be masses of humanity around, the majority of whom will NOT be RIchard Shindell fans. Of late, given the way this festival has been run, most purist folk music fans on Long Island stay away in droves. I'm not saying EVERYONE hates this venue. But everyone I've ever spoken to who has gone in the past has agreed with me and vowed never to return. It's worth noting that this is a free concert. Your move. Shindell must be comfortable with the current size of his fan base. What a bummer for those of us in the mountain west, but how great for him that he has achieved a level of success that he can work on his own terms. Is it still in limbo? It's too much to even dream about a tour date in RS parched Missouri. We can only hope the new cd will be out soon. With a new CD hopefully to be released shortly thereafter, I'd be surprised to hear that Richard won't be doing more extensive touring, to include locations west of the Delaware Water Gap and south of the Mason Dixon Line. . .
