[Chris Foxwell Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V5 #204 Richard showed up at my house the other day with a bunch of new recordings on CD. Probably not any final takes among them, but some are much tighter than the demos I heard earlier in the summer. He's definitely making a record down there. Sounds like a good one, too, IMHO. There Goes Mavis was not in the pile. That's how new it is. I've yet to hear it, btw. Anyone tape any shows? Is there something wrong with the master copy of "Sparrow's Point"? I have purchased and exchanged three copies of this CD over a five-month period, and each one has had a noticeable skip that occurs at constant intervals throughout the CD, on every track. It varies in severity and noticability, but it's always there. I have tried two different stores from two different states in my attempts to obtain a clean copy of the CD, to no avail. Am I having phenomenally bad luck here, or is there a problem with the master CD? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? - --Chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 23:24:37 -0400 From: "Kristen Myshrall" Subject: Re: [RS] Skip in "Sparrow's Point" CD? Have you tried cleaning your cd player? Sometimes, depending on the company that duped it, certain cds are more susceptable to having problems if your lens is dirty. You may not notice it on other cds but it just takes that one cd that is bothered by it. I've never had a problem with any of my Sparrows Point cds (yes any...i have 3, one for home, one for my office, and one for the car :) it saves me going "Oh no..i want to listen to "Insert song of the moment here" and I forgot it at home/office/car!) Anyways...try buying a cleaning kit..they're cheap...see if it works :) - -Kristen >From: Chris Foxwell >Reply-To: shindell-list@smoe.org >To: shindell-list@smoe.org >Subject: [RS] Skip in "Sparrow's Point" CD? >Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 23:05:49 -0400 (EDT) > >Is there something wrong with the master copy of "Sparrow's Point"? Thanks for the tip, but this skip has occurred in a number of different players: my stereo, my computer CD-ROM, my roommate's CD-ROM, my work computer's CD-ROM, and a friend's car CD-player. :-( They wouldn't all react in the same way, would they? Anyone? That would be pretty out there. If I can't corroborate this experience with anyone else's, though, I may as well try cleaning. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 00:45:30 -0400 From: Norman Johnson Subject: Re: [RS] Skip in "Sparrow's Point" CD?
