Richard said that he has two canaries, one of which is named Mavis > And here, I would have guessed their names were "Loop" and "Lil". Can't wait to hear the song, if he ever decides to grace PA with his presence again! It's interesting that the second show was cancelled- do you think maybe it was too late for a workday? Were his previous shows there normally on weekends? Let's face it, most of the folks here that I've met are, er, mature enough that we can't do late nighters regularly without repercussion... There were references made to Richard having started recording already, and Scott had mentioned he demo'd a few songs, what, earlier in the summer - but a few possibilities- those may have been additional demos; they may be scratch tracks to be added onto with additional musicians (it is the ProTools age!); he may be referring to the newest songs; or those takes may have been canned. Who knows... (Or we could always check the web site. C'mon, gimme one of those bwahahahaha diabolical laughs, Vanessa!) When I take my guy to Iron Horse all he keeps saying is, "This is a fire trap waiting to happen." So we have only been once. Maybe I should have gone to that one too. > Richard played one show at the Iron Horse tonight. Originally there were > two but I guess it didn't sell well. Let's see . . . memory takes me back to the famous "Soy Bomb" show at NYC's Fez, September 22, 1999. Richard announces that he's going to FINISH recording his upcoming album ("Somewhere Near Paterson") the following week. I checked the RS-list archives, and a Jim Olsen post from November 22, 1999 indicates that the recording is finished and that it's headed off for pressing, and that it will be in stores February 8th, 2000. All of which combine to make me think that if Richard's only starting to record in earnest right NOW, that a February '04 release is optimistic at best. Which doesn't mean that I ain't keeping my fingers crossed.
