Surprised there have been no posts yet, unless my s*b is bleeped up. First, thanks to everyone who signed my T-shirt "invitation" to give to my doc, so that he will be enticed to come to FRFF, and apologies to those whom I missed. You're there in spirit. I'm sure he will love it! I heard little bits of Richard on the workshop stage, plus his mainstage performance. I must say, if I believe in those things, I must have been a Confederate widow in another life, because as often as I've heard "Reunion Hill," I still am brought to tears. I kind of floated (metaphorically and otherwise) around the grounds, because there were so many folks I wanted to see, I didn't spend too much time in one place, or in one camp. Didn't even make it to Happytown over on Flamingo Ridge. I also spent some time with Shelley, the woman whose family camped next to me, because her husband worked for one of the vendors and she had to spend a lot of time being a "stay-at-home" FRFF mom for a girl of about 9 and a boy of about 2, and, especially by the end of Arlo on Sat. night, she was grateful for some grown-up conversation. Other things: Loved the Kennedys throughout the weekend, especially the set at Granata Guitars! Yay for "I'll Run Red Lights for You" -- a rare time when I actually shout out a request, let alone get to hear it -- and slipping into some Marvin Gaye! Did anyone else catch that spectacular falling star on Friday night? I hope all of our wishes come true! Great to see some faves again, including Lucy, Dar, Nields, DaVinci's Notebook, EFO, and others, along with seeing for the first time: both Richards (Shindell and Thompson), John Gorka, Patty Larkin and Arlo. As I posted elsewhere, I was watching Sunday afternoon's mainstage show, singing along from Richard on and just was wowed that 6-7 years ago, I didn't even know of all these people, including Richard, and now I know all the words to such great songs! And know some great people who also love this music! I had a small tent at the campsite and also stayed in a B&B, so I had the best of both worlds. And the coolest thing happened at the B&B Sunday night. The package includes a comp. dinner, so I ate there, wearing my new FRFF shirt, and the waiter asked whether I had been at the show that day. I said yes, he said he was, too, and said he liked RS best. I happened to have a for-personal-use-only copy of "SNP" on tape, with a few other songs tacked on, and gave it to him, along with a list of Richard's cds, in the order I like them best. Also gave him info about smoe.org and the official site, so perhaps we will have a newcomer in our midst! Ah, the power of music! See everyone next year! Except for Fishing, Reunion Hill, and Arrowhead, all of the songs he played at the Main Stage were new. He started with I am. He also did Che Guerva T-shirt (followed by Fishing). He played something Whipperwill that he dedicated to Dave Carter. He was with John Putnam, Denny McDermontt, and Lincoln S. Tracy Grammer and Lucy played along on several songs. Alas, there was no reunion of the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band. Tracy Grammer was absolutely wonderful throughout. The highlight of the show was the Dave Carter song circle where Tracy and Donnie stayed from 1 to 3 am, despite having a workshop at 10 the next day (and a one hour commute to their hotel) . BTW, Donnie plays a mean air bass. And Richard Dahl and Audrey's version of Kate and the Ghost of Lost Love was just sublime.
