I'll take every little bit I can get. How was Jay Farrar? I haven't seen him solo, although we did see Son Volt at Irving Plaza a few years back. I liked Sebastapol, but I haven't gotten his new one yet. Reviews have been mixed, to say the least. Richard and Jay...hmmmm. I guess if there was a Jay Farrar song that I'd like to hear Richard cover it would have to be 'Windfall.' A pretty obvious choice, I guess, but it would sound fine in Richard's hands. I had heard California and a couple other songs on the radio (WRSI) & I have friends who think of Jay like we do of Richard. He puts on a good show and I like his voice... and I don't think he sounds that much like Neil Young (then again there are people who think Richard sounds like Michael Stipe). I liked the slower acoustic songs more than his rockers. The weather inside (incredibly hot and stuffy) did put a damper on my enjoyment of the show. Especially as the first song of Richard's last album has moved past dated and is now nostalgia.
