And now that he is solidly entrenched in his Argentina digs, he most likely has access to genuine Havanas. In fact, he owes me one in return for the Cohiba I gave him a year or so ago while he was in New York. Samsel" Subject: [RS] Martin D-15 Richard's mahogany Martin D-15 made it to Illinois in good shape; it's now the prime guitar in my rotation. It has a richer tone, it tunes easier, and it takes a capo much better than my Washburn. It's been playing some of Ron's transcriptions from Richard (Arrowhead, Mary Magdalene, You Stay Here, Are You Happy Now, Confession) and Dave/Tracy (When I Go, Gentle Arms of Eden). "When I Go" is sounding just fine with the D5 chord -- at Capo V I can reach this fingering. So this is one song I couldn't do well with my old guitar, but I can do with the D-15. Thanks for all your help, Ron. - -- Dick ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 03 May 2003 18:31:52 -0500 From: ctoph@onebox.com Subject: [RS] The new Gibson... Got home from a run yesterday to find the most beautiful, big brown UPS truck I've ever laid eyes on parked in front of the house, there to deliver my new (new to me) RS Gibson WM-45. Of course, I couldn't wait to shower first, so I was dripping sweat all over it as I tuned and gave it a ride! (oops!) GREAT sound, and a consistent tone from bottom to top. Beautiful, perfect top grain. Sultry neck. I had the fantasy that perhaps Richard would hand deliver it to me at his concert here in Seattle May 15th, but I don't mind getting it early, either! Ron suggested that I bring it to the show and have him lick it... I'm thinking a picture with him and his (my) guitar will suffice. By the way, this guitar was supposed to be my 2002 Roth IRA contribution! :) While my friends (my girlfriend, in particular) question this alternative investment, I certainly have no regrets - especially in this economy!
