That was a surprise to me. I don't listen much to the radio or TV and if i had found out that it had been sold out, I wouldn't have come down. Actually I was thinking that since Tori Amos was in town Sunday night that the crowd might be a little light. No such occurence. I went outside to look and listen to those Harleys and to consider the options. There was a lighted basketball court a couple blocks over and I thought about getting in a couple runs with the youngsters, but, all fresh and clean from a shower before I left home, I decided to spare my hamstrings. I hung out in front of the venue for a bit. Then a short, pudgey guy carrying a backpack or satchel walked past me and into venue. He looked familiar and as I thought for a second, I realized that that was Richard sans facial hair. Figuring I'd missed my big chance for a free ticket, I asked the next guy to come out of the Cafe if he had an extra ticket. Well, he said that he did, because a friend didn't show and he didn't want to eat it. So I bought it from him and introduced myself. His name was Larry and he seemed pretty intense but looked like a folkie-type, Beatle-type straight longish har, jeans and well worn jean jacket. He said he'd be seeing Richard again up the Iron Horse and that his brother and sister were involved in the Boston folk scene. I enterede, ticket in had, and wandered around, saying hello to the GM at the local independent station WyEP, who was there alone also. Made my way to the end of the bar, so I wouldn't block others views. Good show. Richard's guitar is a Martin with a sunburst top. He did a little flatpicking during his backing up Tracy. Nice to hear 'Abuelita" and "Cold Mo. Waters" He had lyrics sheets on the flat table in front of him, and made use of them often. There were a couple delays during Tracy's and Richard's set while the bikers pulled away after hanging out at Frank's, the bar next door. Must have been a regular happening thing, since there was a squad car out front for a while. Maybe it was just homeland security Signing off for now, Mike PS I did say hello to Trayc after the show, thanked her for coming to town and wish her 'good luck'. Richard was busy with a few female fans, including one especially tall blonde. Made a note to pick her early at the next pickup basketball game down the street. - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Mar 2003 15:06:07 -0800 (PST) From: Janet Cinelli Subject: [RS] Richard pudgey? > I hung out in front of the venue for a bit. Has Richard put on so much weight as to be called "pudgey"?? AND when exactly did he lose the beard? Wondering, Janet Yahoo!
