I would imagine it was a choice of either the way they did it, or not at all. And that, to me, is not acceptable. (And hell, I usually listen to it at work and in the truck where you don't notice the slight sonic differences anyway...) I gotta side with Richard and Charlie on this one. Jim >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jim, I agree with you that the slow, LIVE version of Reunion Hill absolutely belongs on any LIVE Richard Shindell CD. Still, the problem is that the track on Courier wasn't LIVE. Your points about timing of the release and budget are good points and I'm sure are accurate. But gosh darn it, I wish they could have got it right!! And besides, this is folk music. It's about the representation of personal tragedy. Because of this one track, Courier was not ideal and therefore, to me, is a partial tragedy. WAAHHHH!!!! Bill Ft. Collins - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Bob is surprisingly interactive. I like the rendition of "Hurricane" (which BTW, mentions Paterson). I am pretty sure what happened on this live album happens on almost all live folk albums. First, on the added audience. Ellis Paul has a 2 CD live album and it features a number of studio tracks and they dont add audience. As much as I like the tracks, the sequencing is off. Other great live folk cd's I have - Patty Larkin's A Gogo, Stephen Fearing's So Many Miles - I am sure similar things have been done. Also, Richard seems to be very professional on that album. I am sure he was very particular about what he relases. - -Adam - --- Bill Chmelir wrote: > Jim Wrote > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > > I think RH in it's updated version is an essential > track, and while it might > have made some sense to tack it at the end, I think > it preserves the feel of > the sequence of those shows to keep it where it is. > I would imagine it was a > choice of either the way they did it, or not at all. > And that, to me, is not > acceptable. Lots of analysis about this one cut on an otherwise (nearly) perfect album. I wish it were live too. I'll bet Richard does also. its still the album of the last 3 years and maybe more to come. I also wish I had hit the Powerball but I'm going to work on Monday. Too bad Dylan's version isn't the way it was. Makes a good song, though. Maybe the last good one he ever wrote.
