Richard came on right on time at 8, accompanied by just a bass player. He played for about two hours with a 15 minute intermission. In addition to wonderful renditions of most of his "standards", he played two new songs - "The Island" and "Last Fare of the Day". He had hand-written lyrics close by for both songs, and claimed he messed up "Last Fare", but both songs sounded great and were well received. For the encore, he came out and played "My Love Will Follow You" which was a request from the audience, but about halfway through the song he forgot the words and strummed for a bit before stopping and admitting he had forgotten the lyrics...so he played another request to finish the show. Highlights for me were "I Am" and "Reunion Hill", as well as his story about gulping down three slices of pizza from Sal's (pizza shop right around the corner) before the show. I was able to get a single seat on the third row. I will be the 5'1" woman with all the curly blonde hair if anyone wants to come by and say 'Hi' I'd like that. And who knows from Sal's in Mamaroneck, NY? I mean--it isn't even near Paterson!
