I don't know anything more than that, but as I hear, I will let you know. She asks that we say a prayer for Dave's safe passage into the next realm. I barely know what else to say. This is so...unfair--to Dave Carter, who was so young, and just beginning to gain recognition for his brilliant work, for Tracy, who has lost an artistic partner and great friend, and for the world, that has lost this brilliant, passionate, and wonderful artist and human being. - --Vanessa On Fri, 19 Jul 2002 Rongrittz@aol.com wrote: > >> Is it true that Dave Carter had a heart attack and passed away today? > i just got an email from my friend saying that it is true, but im not sure. > Awful if it is. << > > Yes. I drove home dumbfounded...what a tremendous loss. I prayed for Dave as they played "When I Go" on FUV as I travelled. When I first read it, I thought it was some sick joke or something. I went out tonight to a blues festival but my heart wasn't in it. I kept thinking about that sweet, spiritual man who was so kind. I had the honor of meeting him and Tracy twice. What a loss for the music world. My prayers are with Tracy and his family. Still in shock, Janet Yahoo! I had never seen Dave play in person but liked the work I had heard. I own none of there albums but ironically pulled out a great compilaiation CD, "IF I Had a Song: The Sings of Pete Seeger Volume 2" today which they are on. I turned the Cd off after there great version of "The Emperor is Naked Today-O." I had never read what he wrote inside about the song til just now. He refers to a story about Thomas Jefferson. It is political but a line that Jefferson said that he quotes sounds like it fits true to him. "The roots, according to Jefferson, need to consistantly get stronger with an infusion of new ideas and new visions." I tjhink he did that for folk music.
