But that's never stopped me before. Richard seemed positively grumpy during the sound check, but whatever may have been on his mind was gone by the time he took the stage from Rachael Davis. OK, I have to say a few words about Rachael. The good news AND the bad news is that she has more talent than she knows what to do with! I think it will be exciting to follow her as she moves on. "Diamond in the rough" is an understatement because she has SO MANY directions she can go. Ever felt a bit envious when someone has said, "I saw so-and-so back when they were an opener and there were 20 of us in the audience."? Check out Rachael if she's anywhere near you. BTW, she will be in the New Talent Showcase at FRFF, and also at the Portsmouth NH Folk Festival on Aug 24, along with Slaid Cleaves and Cosy Sheridan (five bucks for the whole deal). Oh yeah - Richard. He did a great rendition of Sonora's Death Row and the best Transit I've heard. Richard was in rare form and it was a truly great night. And, yes, the beard is really a positive addition for him. - -Howie ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V4 #204 ***********************************
