Mead is supposedly a New York singer/songwriter though I've yet to see him booked anywhere. The record, while a bit over produced, demonstrates a new young talent with a clear penchant for writing catchy, hook-laden melodies. This guy could easily be a real pop sensation if promoted enough. Worth buying if you're looking to discover someone new. Cailtin Cary sounds interesting too. I've not hear of her nor heard any of her music. Have to check and see if there's a website. Hey, Ron--remember when I e-mailed you way back when about someone slightly Sheik-like? Yeah, that was Mead. - --V RockinRonD@aol.com wrote: >In a message dated 4/13/2002 4:56:31 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Pat Power >writes: > >>David Mead (oh, my god, what a voice!)<< >> > > Yeah, this is indeed an intriguing record. Now, I know they were just acting out of frustration. Frasier: So, when Billy Kriedle tried to stuff you into your locker after math class, he wasn't mad at you. He was mad at Pythagoras!" Niles: Mmm. Which is ironic, because a simple volume equation would have shown him I couldn't fit. I have yet to hear 1000 Kisses but have seen 2 recent performances with her amazing band where she played material off of it and just absolutely love her. I'd have 1000 Kisses if it wasn't for the fact that I haven't had time to go get it. I did attempt on the day it came out to run across the street from where I work to HMV. I swore I'd never buy anything from those thieves ($17.99/cd) but I thought I'd try to get Patty's since it was a new release. But apparently she wasn't worth thier time to even put the cd out, though it was in stock...so I had the guy look for it and about 15 minutes later he found me in the store and told me it was "underneath". I looked at the $17.99 price tag and handed it back to him and said, No thanks. I'd rather wait and order it from ATO or get it at a show, or at least a more respectable price. NOT that she's not worth it, but...it's the principal. For those seeing the show with Guy Davis..he recently played at the club I work at and he was fantastic. He's an amazing Blues guitarist..playing old style Mississippi blues stuff. Did an amazing cover of a Bob Dylan song, and since Guy is also pretty great on the harmonica, it was great. Don't know the name of the song, but it's something like "what's a sweetheart like you doing in a place like this" And for those of you in the areas where Kenny White is opening...fantastic piano player who joined Richard on SNP on a few songs. www.kennywhite.net Enjoy this beautiful spring day! Nothing like NYC in the spring time. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Apr 2002 13:06:24 -0400 From: "Plunkett, Adam" Subject: RE: [RS] Patty, etc Jennifer mentioned Guy Davis.
