I guess it's probably not too late for him to be added, but I assume if he was going to be there it would be a done deal by now. Here's hopin' he'll be there for the big gala 15th anniversary next summer. I listened to "Rain" once, than put it on repeat, listened two more times and just about wept. I picked up my daughter from school that day (she's 18, a senior and a big PG fan) and I let "Rain" begin as she got in the car. We listened to it all the way home from school...neither of us saying a word. There was nothing to say. She knew. She downloaded the lyrics to the song that evening and posted them on her online Live Journal. She has the typed lyrics up on the wall of her bedroom. The song just affects you. It's easily one of her best songs to date. The rest of the album is also great in my opinion, though it doesn't sustain the magnificence of the opening cut. While I know many of the songs on here were also on Silver Belle, I'm now hoping that someday we'll get to hear this record that A&M supposedly will never release. Such a waste. The entire disc has been on repeat since then and I just can't stop listening to it. I can't remember too many recordings that can manage sustained listenings recently, except for "Courier" and Lucy's "Every Single Day". Anybody else get a chance to listen to this disc yet? I've heard a number of Patty's recently-written bootlegged songs ("Mother Of God" is one of my favorites) as well as some other live recordings (a *wonderful* rendition of Tom Waits' "Take It With Me", on which she plays piano) and I've got to say that she's easily amongst my favorite writers of all time. And that voice . . . ! I just started listening to Caitlin and am enjoying her quite a bit. I've also recently come upon a Detroit-born singer who's living in Portland, Oregon (I think) . . . Rosie Thomas. Great, great voice -- reminds me a lot of Sarah McLachlan but with better, more interesting lyrics. Also, a few more that I've been getting into of late . . . David Mead (oh, my god, what a voice!) Damien Jurado Okkervil River (kind of alt-bluegrass) Thad Cockrell Still loving Kasey Chambers' "Barricades and Brickwalls"!
