It almost hasn't left my cd-player (just for a change i played a Richard Thompson disc and a Sarah Horton one) Even the Springsteen cover made me notice a lyrical variation i had never noticed before. I'm a big Springsteen fan and had always thought he sang 'New York girls' but RS sang NY virgins and that had me check the lyric book (songs) and amazingly it said virgins (maybe i listened to too much live versions by Bruce where i am sure he sings girls, but that's leaving the subject) I first heard about RS Through Joan Baez' Gone from Danger album (where i am sure you're all aware off). I might be mistaken but I think he performed with her during a show in Amsterdam i saw her play, though come to think of it that might have been glasgow as well. There you have it, i am from Europe, the Netherlands to be precise. So now you know. The best songs on the GfD album were the ones by Richard so when i saw one of his albums in the shop i bought it (Reunion hill). Later i found Blue divide as well) On some other list i saw a mention of his live album and bought that a couple of weeks ago through Amazon. and now i am completely hooked! He is great. Has he ever performed in Europe, Netherlands especially offcourse, has he thought about it or will he in the future? I would love to see him live! Thanks for reading my ramblings and hope to hear more through this list about this great artist. Ronnie ps will buy his other albums asap. By the way, is there any other way to get my hands on the bonus 5-track ep you get when you buy the Courier twice (strange policy though imho) _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Apr 2002 17:34:50 -0500 From: Kerry Bernard Subject: [RS] Film CD - one small change In the interest of full disclosure, wanted to mention that we made one small Shindell change to the Film Music CD we're putting together - yanked Reunion Hill and put in A Summer Wind, A Cotton Dress. Decided we wanted to have at least ONE peppy song in there. So, anyway, now it's Wisteria, Merritt Parkway 2am, Summer Wind, and Before You Go. My bets are on Wisteria as being the first song that will be gobbled up for a film. What do you guys think? Kerry :) Self indulgent post-scripts: p.s. Had the Be Good Tanyas for a house concert at my place in Boston this past weekend. Absolutely stunning. Still tickets left for this weekend's Stephen Fearing show, if anyone's interested - http://www.younghunter.com/moneypenny.html p.p.s. Any listers in southern Ontario? Jeffrey Foucault (who will be opening for Richard next week in Cedar Rapids, and then again at a few east coast dates later this month) is going there this weekend. Friday night in Port Dover (opening for Chris Smither), Saturday night in Hamilton, Monday night in Windsor. We are glad to have a contribution from Europe. Richard has spent time in paris but not recently -- he did meet his wife there. And he has some good stories about playing with Radoslav Lorkevic (who does keyboards with him a lot) in Italy. We hope you find the other albums as well!
