(E. was kind enough to invite me into both.) Now that I'm here, I keep hearing about this wonderful song called "I Am." Everybody talks about it here. The lyrics are available online. You can even find the chords. But . . . where is the song? I'd really like to hear it. Is there a recording anywhere out there? Can't imagine putting Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man in the same class as the Byrd's version, or Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind with PP&M, but hen, that's what makes the world turn. He could have meant the real outlaw John Wesley hardin, or, in his inimitable Dylanesque manner, he could have meant the made-up outlaw John Wesly Harding. patrick t power wrote: > < was Hardin, not Harding.>> > > You're making the assumption that he *meant* "Hardin". > > ptp > > . > > ________________________________________________________________ > GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! > Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! > Join Juno today! (good thing, I'm all for diversity). Joe wrote: > I think that one of the problems with Joan is that she often > (most of the > time?) seems so emotionally univested, as though the songs were just > performance pieces with no meaning behind them. > Hm... Joan is definitely on my list of "people most emotionally invested when singing songs". Especially on stage. Takes me right into the song. So does Richard recorded and live (if I would ever see him on a stage again that is... did I mention recently that I'm going through severe withdrawl? :-) ). But, though Joan can't do much wrong in my eyes, there are songs where I actually do prefer the original to Joan's cover.
