I think she lost a part of who she was in that release. She even changed personality wise when it came to her fans....odd...very odd. Harbinger is awesome and This Fire is absolutely brilliant...hmm add that one to my perfect list :) Kristen - ----- Original Message ----- From: Tom926@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2001 5:00 PM To: shindell-list@smoe.org Subject: [RS] Re: Paula Cole Since I have already learned to duck rotten veggies for defending the brilliance of Joan Baez, I will stand up with you Vanessa, on the merits of those two Paula Cole albums. I love about half of "Harbinger"--the second half of the cd tends to meander a bit for me. But "Bethlehem" ran around in my head repeatedly for a year. It's just a perfect song. And "This Fire" is a terrific cd too. But her last cd. What a waste of money! I was so incredibly disappointed. Well, maybe it was a delayed sophomore jinx. She has rather disappeared hasn't she? And at least SHE never released a book of crap poetry like that other singer/"songwriter" I could name. :) TomGet more from the Web. Friends on the Album were Charlie Daniels, Toy Caldwell (Marshall Tucker) and Chuck Leavell of the Allman Bros. Hung with some progressive musicians like super picker Pete Carr and bass man Lenny Leblanc. There were no skipovers on this. Shortly after its release in summer of '75 he fell mountain climbing near Missoula MT and nearly died, his face and skull crushed by the rocks. Back to climb the Green Monster now (Jim Piersall). It is one of only two CD's that I never have to hit the "next" button on my player. (The other is Meatloaf's BAT OUT OF HELL.) Well, hopefully, no one will hit "next" when I finally get my own CD recorded :-) Kevin Edward Rose "Urban folk ... Perhaps the impulse would be to use too many words. There aren't enough words for descriptive purposes for this; simplicity does it. Yeah, I know we want Richard to be all eloquent and all, but this reduces our common pain to a few words. Heartrending, I'd go for "I saw my youth today." I told Richard they ought to package it with its own box of kleenex. (Of course don't get me started on Rad's tinkling ivories on this one -- let's just say the version of "I Saw My Youth today" I've heard played LIVE and SOLO) A recent close second would be Chris Smither and I think "Slow Surprise." TO me anyway.
