Just thought I'd share my opinion. ;-) - --V P.S. I forgot to mention before that "Howling at the Trouble" is one of the most shamelessly sensual, physical, beautiful songs ever.. I feel downright _uncomfortable_ whenever I hear it. And I mean that in a good way. ;-) A shame it's followed by "By Now," which makes me uncomfortable for very different reasons. Odd juxtaposition of the two most sexual songs on the CD--I kind of wish "Howling" were put somewhere else in the line-up. Out Beyond the Iron Gate (then wire/sound probs requiring a recess) Next best Western Bleecker St Shades of Grey You Stay here On the Wings of Dove Reuinion hill (slow version) Lazy ( with extra verse) Hard Times Come again no more Fleur-de-lis (again, after a request for requests.. starting a delightful trend maybe? ) Transit AYHN and then, the most important discovery of the evening- he played the new one, which is great, and announced its called " Before you Go" this is the one people have been calling 'love" Arrowhead America Calling the moon E:If i had a hammer Amy Rigby opened again. RS seemd continually frustrated and flustered by the sound probs, despite the board guy and Keith laboring to resolve them. I have decided that my favorite thing about RS shows is the way he covers up flubs and forgotten verses/ transitions... i love to watch him do it... and alot of times, i think im the only one that catches it in the place! There are of course songs on each RS disk that move me or reach me in different ways. As I mentioned in a previous post, Wisteria, from SNP is, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, period, but for some reason I keep going back to Sparrows Point---perhaps because it was the first RS disk I bought----nostalgia perhaps? SP also contains one of the VERY few RS tunes I don't much care for, "Kenworth Of My Dreams", which is a little to hokey/country for me. I seem to think that because it was the first RS disk I bought, and because I instantly got hooked on the writing, and the voice, and the music, it was sort of a new discovery for me so it holds a special place. She has performed once in driving range once since then (I live in Eastern Indiana), and I was out of town at the time. While searching through Musi-Cal, I just discovered she will be in Dayton, OH, about 45 minutes away, this Saturday. Guess what? I'll be at the Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) conference in Michigan! C'est la vie, I suppose. Wish me luck. On Saturday night, I will be number 35 out of 35 acts scheduled to perform!
