Johnson" Subject: [RS] Peterborough 2 Geez Jim, I was there, front row also. I checked the list too early Sat. morning to catch your message. Yes, it was an outstanding performance, and Greg and Lisa added a lot with their instruments and talent. I would pick Reunion Hill as the best song performance of the night, and just so happens to be one of my favorites (Civil War interest). It indeed was stirring. I missed hearing a lot of RS songs, but the covers were excellent and, of course, timely. Fishing was also done with intensity. Fleur de Lis was nice to hear, and for guitar players, he added some newer licks like the run on the 2nd string up to the 1st in Wisteria. Calling the Moon, another favorite, was good to hear as well. Beyond the Iron Gate was done quite well and enjoyable. Anyway, I wrote down the song list in order: 1. Bleeker St. 2. Beyond the Iron Gate 3. Blue Divide 4. Fishing 5. Where the Time Goes 6. You Stay Here 7. Reunion Hill 8. On the Wings of A Dove 9. Transit 10. Fleur de Lis 11. Calling the Moon 12. America 13. Hard Times Come Again No More Encores: 14. If I Had A Hammer 15. Love (new) Gotta check the schedule and maybe catch another show toward the end of this portion of the tour. Oh yes, ladies, the beard looks good. Regards, Greg Z - --- "I'll put this cloud behind me, that's how the Man designed me I'm no stranger to the rain"... Richard played "Mary Ellen Carter" the night before I saw him????? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! (I did get to hear Charlie King do this song at Wesleyan last weekend, which is some consolation, but - well, sorry Mr. King, but you're no Richard.) The Shelburne Falls show was amazing amazing amazing. One of my favorite Richard shows of all times. I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said about his other shows . . . the covers were exquisite, he sounded wonderful (and the beard *definitely* gets Katie's seal of approval). He told us all we had to join in on "If I Had A Hammer," saying that he wasn't usually a sing-along kind of guy, but "desperate times call for desperate measures" :-) It was a beautiful, moving, incredible performance, and now I just want to hear him play again and again and again. And again. And again. Charlie, Keith, *anybody* - how much can I pay you for a recording of that show??? :-) This girl needs to hear "America" and "Bleecker Street" and "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" and "Blue Divide" and "Cold Missouri Waters" right now! It's a good thing this man is a singer-songwriter and not a preacher. Richard said that had he stayed in the seminary, he would have been the cool priest. Dave would have been the of the Jonathan Edwards ("Sinners in the hands of an angry God" not the "Sunshine" Dude) fire and brimstone, apocalyptic vision type. Oh, it was a great show!!! Dave's sermon about love before "Tanglewood Tree" was superb. Other highlights were "Kate and The Ghost of Lost Love", "The Mountain", "Ordinary Town" and much more.
