Tour? I thought Y-H was just gonna, like, have us all over for a barbecue and concert after all our hard work on this one! Here's just a thought, all. We've experienced near-firsthand (as david olney would say "as close as I can ever hope to be...") some of the challenges, thinking processes and work that goes into doing this live album. Just think how much fun (!) this must be with a full band and input from like, 5 or 6 members, especially if they're having creative differences! (dialouge read in cheesy British accents please: "Noooo, Devon, you wankah, I feel very strongly that the recording of Precocious Sky from Cleveland wiff it's jazzy overtones more accurately represents the direction in which we're heading and is a harbinger of our next studio work..." "Oh yeah, well @#!!!! you, you @#@!! @#$### !@$#@%!!!! I @$#@!! QUIT!!!" "What, again? Third time this week?") And one final note, and I've said it before. It is really wonderful to feel that Y-H Management has an ear tuned to us and values our input and thoughts on all this stuff, even if- obviously- richard can't please everybody all the time. Anyway, I for one appreciate the fact that you guys are listening, and are an active part of the list. Thanks, guys. You make me cherish my secret decoder ring! jpc in a gorgeously sunny, cool sc pa ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 14:20:10 EDT From: LBECKLAW@aol.com Subject: [RS] Re: album name ideas How about "Preaching to the Choir?" as the live cd title? Long way around, cowboy real, and road to bayamon or poor man's dream are IMHO the best choices for a neophyte TR fan. (I have not heard the new one yet.) the three I am least fond of are the man from nowhere, russell and hardin: the early years and heart on a sleeve. Tom's a good songwriter with a diversity of subjects and material- i mean, check out blood oranges, sky above mud below and US steel as examples, but if you're looking for another richard, I think you will be somewhat disappointed... I mean, Tom is one of my favorite singer songwriters, and I don't want to sound highbrow...but for want of a better word, I find rs more literate. Maybe it's just the whole east/west of the mississippi thing or something. It's also worth mentioning he shaves a verse off of sonora's death row, much to my chagrin! jpc somewhere near bellefonte pa ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 17:11:08 -0400 From: Elwestrand Subject: Re: [RS] Re: Hell Bent on Saturday Gosh, I think this title would be great for a Richard Tribute album. And then maybe Richard wouldn't get a say in how you title it. Sneaky is good! E P.S. In some ways however, I agree with Richard. He seems pretty laid back to be "hellbent" on anything. Except perhaps quality music. ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag - ---- On Thu, 6 Sep 2001, Tom926@aol.com (Tom926@aol.com) wrote: > Charlie: > There is only one viable solution (though RG, your solution re: don't > let > Richard make decisions cracked me up): I think YOU should take that > title and > record your own cd. > > I would buy it. > > tom ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 20:21:54 EDT From: L8NiteBluz@aol.com Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V3 #290 Is anyone familiar with the great roots band, Son Volt, and if so is there any word on a new disk?
