In order to fit everything on one disc, we compiled a version of the disc last night as follows: 1 Courier 2 Memory of You - - Trucking Intro (brief) 3 Kenworth of My Dreams 4 Willin' 5 Next Best Western 6 A Summer Wind, A Cotton Dress - - Arrowhead Intro ("And he died with all his teeth!") 7 Arrowhead 8 Reunion Hill 9 Nora 10 Fishing 11 Are You Happy Now? 12 Mary Magdelen - - Sandy intro ("This next one is NOT going on the record") 13 Sandy 14 Fleur de Lis 15 Transit It's something like 74 minutes long, which is getting to the maximum for a disc.... (we left off all the SNP material except "Transit", which just _smokes_; and I like the idea of it becoming RS's 'signature' song, thus eventually replacing AYHN, so I really want to include it). When we offer the cd at the Signature website (pre-Solstice) we're thinking of doing it as a buy-two-copies, get-a-bonus-limited-edition cd, which will have some of the stuff that didn't make the full cd ("Sonora" for sure - maybe _all_ the "Sonora"'s). That way, we get the dedicated Richard fans - that's you - to buy TWO copies (thus squeezing the most money out of those most inclined to give it up); encouraging dedicated fans to give (at least) one copy to friends for the Holidays, AND giving those same dedicated fans a special thank you gift that might make no sense to memebers of the public. Much thanks to Ron G for the initial idea (somewhat transmogrified). One warning about the above list: Richard is not too happy with some of his pitch issues on "Summer Wind", so if there is one song in danger of not making the cut... Just a forewarning. I'll do my best to keep it in there. Keep coming up with titles. Today I'm thinking.... "Hell-Bent on Saturday" (or does that sound too Judas-Priest-y?). Thanks, everyone, for all your help! - - Charlie (stealth FRFF-attendee) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Aug 2001 11:36:05 -0400 From: "Brian Williamson" Subject: Re: [RS] Live Album Progress Report Charlie, Thank you for the update. I really like all the ideas regarding distribution (i.e. buy two get a bonus disc). Those of us who do mix discs would love you forever if you kept the intros on separate tracks, especially if they go more than 10 seconds or so. And, it makes a cut a lot more likely to be played on the radio without the spoken part attached. Otherwise, if 'Summer Wind' does get cut I'd hope that 'Wisteria' gets the first call off the bench. And, it's great to see that 'Sandy' made the cut. Gene F. (Wisteria, Sonora and You Stay Here?) It's too bad about Sonora, I was really hoping that one would make it. Although it you put one version on, all 3 should have been on. Vanessa gets "Memory of You." Jim gets his "trucking trilogy." Everyone gets "Summer Wind, Cotton Dress" (although if the "pitch issues" force it out, I'd put "Sonora" back in.) Clary gets the slow "Reunion Hill." Norman gets "Nora." Pat Power gets "Fleur de Lis." Interesting that both "Wisteria" and "You Stay Here" got cut, but with SNP being so recent, and with the idea to focus on the earlier stuff, I can understand. From a 'order of songs' perspective, if that's still up for discussion (heck, if it was EVER up for discussion), I'd still put "Reunion Hill" as a wrap up AFTER "Transit." And, Charlie, I LOOOOOVE "Hell Bent on Saturday." Love it love it love it.
