(I've always enjoyed Joan, although she's never been at the top of my must-buy pile- in fact I think most everything else I have by her is on vinyl. But I wasn't that enamored of her version of reunion hill; I really feel she lost the beauty of the way rs performs it... and maybe it didn't exist at the time he wrote it for her, but to not have that guitar intro to reunion hill is a CRIME, I say, a CRIME!) Cheers! Jim somewhere near bellefonte pa and who saw john gorka friday and was pleased he did mostly older stuff... it's interesting that the show didn't make me want to buy his latest disc, but instead made me want to listen to the first three again. I enjoyed his opening act, Alice Peacock, from Chicago a great deal- she had a great voice but I'm not as impressed with her disc as with her live acoustic set. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Apr 2001 09:30:04 -0400 From: SELogan@uss.com Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V3 #132 >>a mix tape of songs that incorporate famous people. Will your protective instincts have lessened in-time for you to bring "your baby" to FRFF? Actually, I have a big no-name folk guitar with "high" action which I am seriously contemplating bringing there myself. I bought it when I was a Peach Core volunteer and it was the only guitar for sale in the whole city. It's always had heavy strings on it because someone once told me that they worked better around campfires when volume was important. Of course, they're a bear to play! Well, I suspect that the heavy strings may have contributed to the difficulty playing it so I just (after seven years, duh!) bought two sets of new light strings. I am now experimenting with all manner of alternate tunings "waiting for the SPROING@!" afterwhich I will re-string the whole thing with the light strings. (the other 'E')Timothy BTW... >>Thank goodness for Ron G's guitar chord transcriptions<< ...ain't it the truth! ...ain't it the truth! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Apr 2001 11:15:10 -0400 From: "Kevin B. Not earth-shattering by any means, but some very enjoyable songs.
