For PA, what about that accident that takes place in Scranton, Pennsylania with "30,000 pounds of bananas". He's from Huntington Station, and used to play for Eric and toured with Billy Joel as well. He's a solo guitarist doing gigs in the NYC and CT area, did a house concert at our house last year. He would make a great opening act for Richard! Excellent player and a real gentleman, catch one of his gigs if you can. I've been trying to find some information on the web about it, but so far no luck. I imagine his CDs are only sold here locally (Bloomington, IN) now. :-( I'll keep looking if you still need one. I used to have that 45, "Indiana Wants Me". I loved it! I don't think it's very folky or country tho. A quick note that the good folks at smoe.org are going to be doing some server moving and maintenance this Thursday, 3/29, a process which will take most of the day. What this means is that during the move, there will be no mail service. All mail sent to the Shindell-list (or any of the other lists hosted by smoe.org) will be held until smoe.org comes back online. So, basically, don't panic if any posts you send on Thursday take a while to appear. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line. RG ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2001 20:33:09 EST From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: [RS] Richard Shindell/Lori McKenna Just wanted to alert you to the fact that Richard puts in a marvelous guest appearance on Lori McKenna's upcoming CD, "Pieces of Me." The song is a stunner called "Never Die Young" (not the James Taylor song) and you can hear a two-minute clip from it (as well as several other songs, including "Fireflies" with Ellis "Mr. Katie Mahoney" Paul) on the www.folkweb.com site. Lori's having a CD release party/gig at the Somerville Theatre this Saturday, with special guests Kris Delmhorst and Mark Erelli (my new Dream Team), so I'm going to make my first ever trip up to Boston to take it in. After seeing Dave & Tracy the night before, I'll definitely be Mr. Happy Guy by Sunday. What a Marvelously Mad Musical March . . . Richard/Lucy, Shawn Colvin, Kris Delmhorst, Dar Williams, Dave & Tracy, and now Lori/Kris/Mark. If the 3/16 Cheryl Wheeler show in Montclair hadn't been sold out, and the 3/4 Lynn Miles house concert cancelled because of the storm, I'd have been able to safely say that I'd been able to see ALL my favorite performers in the space of a month. Anyway, I hope to meet some of you there, and in the meantime, check out Lori's newly-facelifted site (courtesy of Ms. Kerry Bernard) at www.lorimckenna.com. Really? Cool! I will have to check that out. I have to admit though that the Lori CD I have never quite grew on me but I don't really know why. I should give her another chance, esp. if Richard and Ellis are on the album. > What a Marvelously Mad Musical March . . . Richard/Lucy, Shawn Colvin, Kris > Delmhorst, Dar Williams, Dave & Tracy, and now Lori/Kris/Mark. Ouch! Stop torturing me!!!! All I have to offer is two Julian Dawson shows. But ask me again next month, I'm looking at 10 concerts in 12 days... :-) Katrin - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- i do it for the joy it brings because i'm a joyful girl because the world owes me nothing and we owe each other the world ani difranco ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V3 #114 ***********************************
