I belong to an organization called the Association for Women in Sports Media (acronym, AWSM, pronounced AWESOME), and almost every convention, we have a panel of athletes, moderated by a journalist from the convention city and attended by the rest of us. It gives them great insight into how we do our jobs (like most athletes don't realize that it is the copy editors, not the reporters who write the headlines), and also gives us some perspective on the fame they deal with. It's always rewarding for both sides. Not quite performer/fan relations, but another type of important one. Deb ===== You can take the rock band away from the girl and think you've tamed her.
