Hey you guys, Pat Power, the Yenta of Michigan, wrote: << Rebecca laid it out: <> Rebecca . . . meet Gene. Gene . . . meet Rebecca. Heh-heh! >> Thanks, Pat. Well, I haven't mentioned 'The Weather' in a few months, sure that everyone else on the list was welcoming 'Weather' references as much as another 'Chad' joke, but I still maintain that the World Premiere will be at Outpost in the Burbs on February 2. By the way, for those who haven't heard, James Keelaghan will be opening for the split Richard/Lucy bill. Wow. A live album, eh? Ron G mentioned the essentials, and I guess these are the songs I've heard every time I've seen him perform, for the most part. I haven't seen a show in recent memory where he hasn't done 'Lazy,' or 'Arrowhead,' so I think they would be there. My dream disc, in chronological order, (and remember, a CD can hold 74 minutes of music......) Are You Happy Now Kenworth of My Dreams On a Sea of Fleur-de-Lis Sparrows Point Nora By Now A Summer Wind, A Cotton Dress Fishing Mary Magdalene The Next Best Western May Reunion Hill The Weather (although this has as much chance of making the live CD as would Richard's cover of 'Hit Me Baby One More Time) Sing Me Back Home Cold Missouri Waters and from SNP (If there are any) Confession Wisteria Transit I hope there would be a surprise cover or two. We all expressed our deepest desire for Richard covers a few months back, and who knows, maybe a seed has been planted. Regarding Lucy and or Dar, I would be quite surprised if the recordings do not include a night where the Doctor is in the House. Is there a chance that Larry Campbell will be there for a couple of the recording sessions? I would again agree with Ron G. on this point - a mix of band and solo is the way to go. I hope to see some of you on 2/2. Heck, I've been paying that for the local house concert series here in NJ, and paid $20 for Richard at the Bottom Line, $25 for Dar's shows, etc. If I get sticker shock about anything, it's the way the CD costs keep creeping up and up. > > RG ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 21:44:13 EST From: FJPQ@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] sticker shock In a message dated 01/20/2001 9:32:04 PM Eastern Standard Time, lanzalj@ix.netcom.com writes: << Speaking of tickets...anyone know where I can get a couple for Richard, Lucy and James Keelaghan at the Outpost in the Burbs on 2/4? >> The concert at the Outpost is 2/2 (Ground Hog Day) just so you can keep it straight...and I bought 'em back in October if memory serves me correctly or maybe November, but definitely well before Thanksgiving.....yikes,a sold out concert! Which means that they sold a LOT of tickets. (FYI, so no one runs into another sell-out problem, make sure to pick up your tickets for the March 30 show with Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer.) But here's another burning issue: since James Keelaghan is opening, I vote that he and Richard arm-wrestle to see who gets to sing "Cold Missouri Waters." Come to think of it, when James opened for Richard at the "Soy Bomb" show at Fez in September '99, he sang the song . . . and I guess it's his after all . . . oh well. And speaking of "After All," Dar did a pretty spectacular rendition of it on Austin City Limits tonight, along with "As Cool as I Am," "I Won't Be Your Yoko Ono," "What Do You Love More Than Love" and "Are You Out There." And she didn't look nearly as nervous as she did on Conan last night. RG ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 23:09:38 EST From: FJPQ@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] Sold Out-post. So anything would be a delight for me. But the one thing I like, which I heard on the KPFA Cry3 NY Eve concert and at the Bridgeton show, is the between-song banter. If an artist is known for that, I think it really adds to the record. I heard Sarah McLachlan's live cd and it goes from one song to the next, and I heard subsequently that it didn't seem like a real Sarah concert because all her between-songs comments were cut. One of my fave live albums lately is "Faster, Skinnier Live" by Melissa Ferrick. It captures all of Melissa. Deb Yahoo!
