Try seeing Richard 37 times. My signficant other cannot believe I want to see the same performer(s) more than once in the same year or even just more than once in some cases. I try to tell her it is the same as her taping all the Xena shows, then buying(!) the special video packages when they all come out...or the same as flying all the way to California to see a postage-stamp-sized Lucy Lawless onstage. I sometimes get to go alone, or with friends, but I sometimes also hear that "quality-time" thing brought up. What's a music-loving gal to do? Desperate Deb in New Jersey Yahoo! I really don't go overboard buying CD's so I didn't have a very tall stack to choose from. In addition, the stature of some of these CD's may have been enhanced by the charm of live performances in 2000. You know how that goes. Meeting the performers can also affect ones subjectivity and I met 10/13 of these performers this year, (Dave and Tracy eluded me!). I think Dave and Carol were both just making a *joke* (and fairly clever little ones at that, I thought) and *not* trying to open up the floor for political debate. Remember, this is a list about *Richard Shindell*, not Dubya. Well, actually, let's not forget Dave and Tracy. ;-) Anyway, I think you can see my point. I'm just not interested, and I think that this is so far off-topic that I feel justified in asking that we STOP TALKING ABOUT IT, NOW. End of the year - end of CD-buying. Well, tomorrow I'll go buy the Ally McBeal-X-mas CD since it's on sale and I think it's the kind of music I'd enjoy while wrapping gifts. But it won't make the top ten. Gee, Darren. Touched a raw nerve there, looks like! Oh, and, by the way, Dubya is not, and will never be my president, since I don't live in the country of which you speak. As a recorded work, Draw Them Near doesn't approach Wishes Well Disguised, which in its own way still doesn't do Jess justice. Go see her in concert, is my recommendation. And talk to her afterwards.
