Subject: [RS] Richard on Unison Compilation CD Dicksters, An FYI that there is a wonderful performance of Richard, Billy Masters and Rad Lorcovic performing "Memory of You" on the new Unison Arts & Learning Center benefit cd. It rocks much more than the 'Sparrows Point' version and has a terrific, impassioned vocal by RS, howling ambient guitar by Mr. Masters, and fine piano counterpoint by Mr. Lorcovic. Unison Arts is a non-profit arts and learning center in New Paltz, New York. The cd celebrates its twenty-five anniversary, and features performances by Louise Taylor, Chris Smither, Richard, Suzzy Roche and others. To order, send a check for $16.50 (includes shipping) to: Unison Arts & Learning Center 68 Mountain Rest Road New Paltz, NY 12561 All proceeds go to Unison. And say you heard about it on the Richard-list! Happy Holidays. - - Charlie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2000 09:56:03 -0800 From: "Clary, John (CLRY)" Subject: [RS] how far do you go? How far would you or have you gone (in miles or hours) to see Richard? (How 'bout Dave & Tracy? Have to stay on topic ya know) Would you cross the Blue Divide to see him play? I have flown/driven 540 miles one-way to see Richard and someone I know is about to blow my distance out of the water so I was just curious (not trying to get any serial stalkers to 'fess up or anything). Of course Richard flies thousands of miles to see us now, so he wins, hands down. j a c ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2000 13:17:28 -0500 From: Vanessa Wills Subject: Re: [RS] how far do you go? Granted that isn't more that 4 hours, but I only found out about the show 3 and a half hours before the start. I dropped the hammer and only missed one song, and that was because there was no money machine handy. - -----Original Message----- From: Vanessa Wills [mailto:vcwills@Princeton.EDU] Sent: Tuesday, December 19, 2000 1:17 PM To: shindell-list@smoe.org Subject: Re: [RS] how far do you go? Well, I admit Richard hasn't been my *sole* reason for flying to New York state these past two summers (and next summer) to attend Falcon Ridge, but door-to-door (or more accurately door-to-tent flap), that would be 3298 miles each way as the crow flies. Of course, (a) aeroplanes don't fly that route, and (b) no crow would be stupid enough to undertake the journey! I looked it up in the "Official Stalkers Handbook" and it qualifies!). <<(How 'bout Dave & Tracy?>> I flew out to Albuquerque a couple of years ago to see Dave and Tracy -- just to see them!! How far have I gone in miles? No idea, how far is it from Germany to the Eastcoast? The one I traveled the furthest though was good old Joan Baez though. Germany - Westcoast plus a nice roadtrip (well, Greyhound trip that is) down and up the coast. Traveling for music is just so much fun... very addictive :) Katrin - ------------------------------------------- i do it for the joy it brings because i'm a joyful girl because the world owes me nothing and we owe each other the world ani difranco ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #380 ***********************************
