I will have to give my copy of Blue Divide a better listening, though, judging from those who've chosen it as their favorite. RH , though, was my first experience with RS and as Peter noted, I get the same reaction from friends when I play that album like "Hey, who's that?" or "Wow, This is good!" Her songwriting is incredible, and she also chose the perfect cover songs, for her voice and band, *and* for being in northampton! she sang that lucinda williams song that goes "i changed the kinds of clothes i wear, i changed the kind of car i drive...etc" (not sure of the exact title) also "do re mi" and fred eaglesmith's "water in the fuel," for which she told the audience to imagine her as a lesbian truck driver, and when she got many cheers and much laughter, remarked that the joke didn't go over nearly as well the night before, in texas. heh heh. Still don't have her CD myself, but it's near the top on my list. - --Rebecca :) At 03:25 AM 11/19/00 -0800, you wrote: >>RonG wrote: >> >><>Kasey >>Chambers. Just wanted to add a few words to all the wonderful reports of Richard's show at The Mint in LA on November 12. Didn't know so many RS listers would be there! That was Arjuna (from dar-list) and I up front at the little table. Richard was fantastic. I mentioned to Arjuna after the show that it was the most relaxed I have ever seen him on stage. I was at McCabe's earlier in the year and there was no comparison in my opinion. Richard seemed to actually be having lots of fun at The Mint. He told lots of stories--many of the familiar ones and some new ones too. As was mentioned, he was very generous with requests and it was a delight to hear "Tune for Nowhere" as an encore. I, of course, asked for "I Saw My Youth Today" to which he quickly responded "I can't do that one-- I would screw it up." I was thrilled, though, that he did do "Calling the Moon." The show was wonderful. Our seats couldn't have been any better. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, and Richard himself reflected a relaxed and happy spirit. He did mention that he was on his way to Homer, Alaska-- and he seemed pretty proud to be going there. Glad to see he is enjoying his travels. ok-- back to lurkdom. candace ___________________________________________________________ Get more from your time online. I've been working on the transcription to "Darkness, Darkness" from the "Reunion Hill" CD, but I'm having problems with the lyrics in one particular line. The liner notes say "Fill the emptiness of right now" I have a tape on which Richard sings "Fill the emptiness inside" I checked the web, and one site says "Fill the emptiness of fright" Another site says "Fill the emptiness with bright" Does anyone have the original Jesse Colin Young version who can tell me for sure? Thanks. BTW, I've put up a bunch of new transcriptions: "Arrowhead," "Howling at the Trouble," "Darkness, Darkness" and "I'll Be Here in the Morning" as well as some new Dar stuff: "I Love I Love," "Flinty Kind of Woman," "Family" and "Bought and Sold."
