Now after this discussion I'm gonna keep thinking about what everyone said here last Digest. Not sure if I'm gonna be able to play it like I did before. I try not to think of the worse case scenario when I sing it. I mean, one CAN interpret the lyrics in a harmless way to keep from getting the creeps. Can't one? So I opted for the "one mail with all the stuff for all the lists" cuz that makes it easier for me :-) I was running a search for Mark Erelli on the net and came across a "cultural arts magazine", as they call themselves, I had never seen before and found reviews for Peter, Richard and Lucy there which I thought you'd might want to see as well. My apologies if this has been posted before. review of Somewhere near Paterson: http://rambles.net/shindell_paterson.html review of Ten Year Night: http://rambles.net/kaplansky_ten.html review of Trouble with Poets: http://rambles.net/mulvey_poets.html and, to round things off: review for Cry, Cry, Cry: http://rambles.net/crycrycry.html Does anybody know anything about that online-magazine? It looked pretty interesting. There is a review of End of the Summer as well and lots of other stuff. It's been too long since I heard it...doesn't it start with something like a deer or a cow or something in the road? Just a couple of very quick things from Katie Who Is Sitting At Her Computer Eating Lots And Lots Of Highly Addictive Oriental Rice Snacks Even Though She's Going To Dinner In Half An Hour: After seeing Richard open for Dar on the first night of her End of the Summer tour (the first time I'd ever heard/heard of the man), I went to see him when he played at the Iron Horse a short time after. And one of the extremely few songs I remember from that show (along with "Nora," "Reunion Hill," and "Fishing") was "By Now." Don't ask me why that obscure little number stuck in my head the way it did (and don't say it's because of the disturbing factor, because clever Katie didn't even figure out that it was creepy until you guys all started talking about the song a while back), but I remember the deer line quite clearly. That was fall of '97, and I haven't heard him do the song since. KATE RUSBY KATE RUSBY KATE RUSBY!!!!!!!!!! I was going to make somebody drive me to MAKOR because it was the closest stop Kate was going to make on her RIDICULOUSLY SHORT U.S. tour . . . but then I magically found out about her Lexington show, and I am so excited that I am very close to spontaneous combustion. Dar and Kate Rusby in the same weekend . . . add Richard and Dave and Tracy to the mix, and my life could only go downhill from there. Okay, that's about it. I hope you guys are all doing delightfully, and that it's a little less rainy and dreary wherever you live than it is here. Ciao! Here's a question: do you think this is the first time for the driver? Has he killed before or is he just contemplating it now? I think it's the latter. RE: the subject line--I recently saw the Twilight Zone movie (from '84) again and see a link between "By Now" and the opening sequence (w/ Albert Brooks) of that movie.
