I had decided it could not be done...to name THE essential RS song...at least not by me. But I realized a recurring theme of Richard's that keeps bringing me to the brink. It's about being separated from the one(s) you love. There's so many of these: You Again, BD, May, Abuelita, SW/CD, RH, Castaway...and over and over again. Today, what really got to me was The Ballad of Mary Magdelen. Not sure why Dar's vocal has never touched me like this before, but it wrenched on me this time. It reminded me that my soul mate and I had been apart for ten years and I can't figure out why on earth I ever let her go in the first place. (No Greitzer, she's not a guitar, and yes, she's back =) So, I have a list of essential songs, but one essential theme. j a c ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Sep 2000 19:37:50 -0400 From: "Norman A. I've mentioned how much I like Dar's version of Mary Magdalen before. While I'm blown away by Lucy's, I still like Dar's. She captures that world-weary heartache and feeling of separation more so than either Richard or Lucy. Which I hadn't, nothing of that sort, I didn't even subscribe to an announcement-list. And then the mails started coming in. Did this happen to anybody else as well?
