So typical of me, I thought I was discovering this great new talent, meanwhile back in the world of reality, the man has been touring for twenty years!!!!!!!! Yikes!!!!!!!! Sorry for my naivete, it was the first time I ever saw him perform! I know this is a little *silly* but I thought all of you just might get a kick out of this one. My friend, a physics professor sent it to me. Enjoy!! You know, I think it will make us all appreciate and respect Dar/Lucy and richard EVEN MORE than we already do! Firstly, he sang (in concert): You were born And they pulled you from her arms And a captain brought you Home to his family Now it may be That they have LOVED you as their own . . . but recorded: Now it may be That they have RAISED you as their own . . . I don't mind this change at all. In fact, I find it to be appropriate (although it is very likely true that whoever raised the child *could* have loved it) considering the circumstances of the child's kidnapping. The second change that I wish he hadn't made, was in the final (repeated chorus). In concert he sang: Soledad was your mother's name She fell in love with my Juan Luis They may be gone But I am still your abuelita. Soledad was your mother's name HOW SHE LOVED my Juan Luis They may be gone But I am still your abuelita. There was something about this exclamation that made this woman (if you can imagine it) even *more* real.
