Isn't that "Czarkhasm" a clever, witty parodist?!! Surely he/she/it has studied under the best of the best . . . Anonymous (or was it Name Withheld? Hmmm . . .)! I try to roast Dar, and you vent - You never heard such excrement! I think that perhaps there is some dissatisfaction with the list -- or perhaps with a few of the listers who had displayed a little more vehement negativity towards his/her/its. And what a lovely side-stepping (pardon the pun!) of the word sh*t! 'Cause in your haste to vent your spleen You nearly called out for my head. PC patrols, this hack won't fight - But what you dole out smacks of fright Hmmm . . . it seems to me that whilst his/her/its first parody was fairly roundly ignored by most of us, he/she/it has gotten the misimpression that we "hastily" jumped to criticize. No . . . methinks that if memory serves, the criticism was directed more towards those who seemed determine to make something out of nothing, getting under the skin of one of the administrators in the process. That this poor rhymer has a view That must be discredited. I've some good advice for you: Why not just leave my posts unread? Hmmm . . . a "*poor* rhymer" -- I actually found the rhymes to be fairly well done -- not too forced, as too, too many parodies suffer from this. I'm not one to think that there was much of a view expressed, actually, in the first parody, so discredited doesn't seem to quite be the appropriate turn of phrase here, sadly. As for the advice . . . well, since most posts that happen to be posted to this particular list are assumed to be of value (Oops! There I go assuming again!!), it seems to me entirely reasonable that one would read the post, determine its value, then respond accordingly. I know from *my* experience that I don't post a response to each and every post that that gets posted here, for if I did, I would be posting all day to posts posted by all sorts of people posting to other people's posts. Oh, there are some posts which, when posted, pique my interest and I post post haste, but often I post only when the posts I read warrant a return post. In a nutshell, though (and this is totally my *opinion* on the matter) we read a post, and then either respond or don't. So are you happy now? Are you happy now? Are you happy now? Hmmmm . . . I'm not sure, but this seems to be a direct quote from a Richard Shindell song . . . can anybody out there back me up on this? I trashed your bumpkin - I'm a boar. Some fans have snickered at my feat. As their grins grew about the "Goon," Free speech veered into the room. The altar boy quivered with his torch, As Cinderella kept her watch. A low blow waited to defeat, As silence whispered, please retreat. What was I supposed to do, But to sit there in the dark. I was amazed to think that you Would make me pander to you, too. Clearly, our enterprising parodist was rather pleased with his/her/its previous contribution to the list, yet just as clearly recognizes that there was not a unanimously supportive group to greet it. I wonder . . . does this reflect badly upon the group? Are we uptight? Are we unlearned with regard to the fine art of parody and satire? Are we humourless, pathetic, lifeless ninnies wanting our little world to be so comfy as to be horrified by the even the littlest of pungent odors? Or do we simply prefer to leave discussion of limerick-like scratchings to the more sophisticated among us? I've sat all night, and now it's dawn That's funny . . . my timestamp reads: "Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 22:40:54 EDT." So, either there is confusion on behalf of our undaunted author as to the difference between night and dawn, or he/she/it is writing from the half-way around the world. Interesting! And I cannot believe my eyes. The battle lines have been redrawn And I will not apologize. I might be wrong here, but I don't recall anyone demanding, asking for, or even suggesting that an apology was necessary. "Battle lines"? Were battle lines drawn in the first place? I, too, am having trouble believing my eyes as I really don't recall all that much time or energy being spent on but a few words of insignificant and sophomoric word-twisting. Oh, sure, there are some who might argue that a rather irritated list administrator (who I *think* we all know to be as rabid a Richard Shindell fan as there, is and who therefore is most apt to be the one with a desire to keep this list from straying too far from [guess!] Richard Shindell) was somewhat vociferous when the topic of an apparently widely-ignored topic was brought up, but who am I to demand an apology from him considering his very determined efforts to maintain and encourage a list that keeps close to topic. It seems this caper, I'll agree Perhaps, did get the best of me. Behaving extreme, has earned the char That I've picked up, forevermore. And though I know it's hard to tell, I hope that RON and SAL treat you well. I will abstain, for now I'm shunned, But it's YOUR digest, have some fun. I'm tempted to believe that the capitalization of these words is rather pointed. Are "RON and SAL" being singled out for a reason other than that they're the list administrators, or is there a vindictive tone to be inferred. The author claims to be shunned. "Shun" means to avoid; to escape from; to keep clear of. Hmmmm . . . I thought we were simply "ignoring" (which means to refuse to pay attention to; disregard). You NEVER asked why I had not Written you a verse or two. Since that's the ONE thing I regret, I dedicate this one to you. Again, capitalized words . . . and again, a direct quote from a song written by Richard Shindell! Could it be that our little friend here is parodying . . . Richard Shindell?? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
