My fear of trying to remember the next coming line in a song is that I'll sing the next line before the one before it. Geez. Maybe I'll take up bowling. I have gotten quite a kick out of some of them so I thought I would share mine as well. *hoping everyone will continue sharing more misheard lyrics!* Renee-911-Polgar>> I also have had problems with "misheard" lyrics over the years, most recently with Dar's/Richard's "Balling The Goon." I swear this is what I heard. (To really appreciate this one you have to read it while listening to the actual song.) Czar BALLING THE GOON The Goon wanted more of my night. I quaffed some more Sloe Gin in the red light. My knees were reared and my panties were gone. I'd promised to yield if he'd leave 'fore the dawn. And the Goon kept on rising. There was no more to say. I put my nightcap away, And sore, rendered the lay. And I know you'll be calling me soon. And if I don't answer, I'm balling the Goon. I was balling him then. I'm wondering will he take me again. Oh, I'm balling the Goon. When I called the Goon back to me, I thought all he wanted was booty. I showed him my breast and fat milky white thighs. Uncovered the path to his life's greatest prize. And the Goon kept on rising. And I felt nothing at all. Benign with alcohol, As the empire falls. And I know you'll be calling me soon And if I don't answer, I'm balling the Goon. I'm the dame that he chose. Virginity squandered - guess that's how it goes. Oh, I'm balling the Goon. Oh, I'm tense and I'm tight. I can feel his touch - it's my old plight. The Goon said, now my work is done. I've scored - guess God'll put blight on this one. And his canker keeps colonizing. * They don't understand. I rode him all that I can. And I feel secondhand. And I know you'll be calling me soon. And if I don't answer, I'm balling the Goon. He's a big parasite. This one's going out to the Goon tonight. Oh, I'm balling the Goon. Balling the Goon. I was balling him then. I'm wondering will he take me again. Oh, I'm balling the Goon. * And his wanker keeps on rising. Gordon" Subject: [RS] Tin Angel Tonight Just got back from Philly tonight to see Richard's first show since moving to Argentina. First had a great dinner at Seranno's, then moved upstairs. Had 2nd row seats! Richard mentioned the Shindell-list and the discussions about forgetting lines (he heard about from his brother), so when he started Confession, he forgot some lines from the first verse ("Wait, is that how that verse goes?"), luckily some of us up front helped him out! It seemed that Richard may have been a bit tired from his flight over, he didn't talk nearly as much as usual, but it was still wonderful to hear him again! Got to hear his new C. Fox which sounded incredible. He also had a piano player, who added alot to the power of the songs. This is my fourth Richard concert and I wish I could see him like once a month!!!! Any other listers there tonight? Well, I'm going to get out the guitars and bang away my Richard repertoire until I wake the neighbors! - -Evan - -------------------------------- Evan A. He thought he was playing the wrong chords because the lyric didn't sound right to him. He asked us if he was playing the right song. We said he was and someone fed him lyrics. He laughed and it made the whole thing very entertaining. I could not have pulled that off. When you have to be in public and you have some kind of impossible defect like that, the best thing is to make a joke out of it, to relax and make it part of the show. The best I can do with my own typical few moments of complete incomprehensibility, in public speaking, is to try to have an endearing personality so they'll forgive me! The most incredible thing I ever saw was Richard changing a string at the Iron Horse, carefully and slowly, telling a story the whole time, with total aplomb. However if a song is great and it gets flubbed, you do rather wish he'd start over -- but I suppose at that point it's too late. lisa, catching up ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #245 ***********************************
