John Platt said he thought the song had a very "wistful" sound. << Does it ever. So many of Richard's songs are those "RS in other people's bodies" character pieces, that I sometimes lose sight of the fact that some of his most moving and "wistful" songs are the ones that are coming from Richard Himself. Like "Blue Divide" and "You Again" (two of the most beautiful love songs I know), "I Saw My Youth Today" and several others. That's why I never tire of listening to him, and why his CDs are my "default" CDs (meaning when I don't know what to grab for the car, I grab one of his, "Sparrows Point" more often than not). It's because I put his CDs on Shuffle Play and never know where he's going to take me from song to song . . . or even who's going to be doing the singing . . . Richard, William Taylor, Eliza, Mary Magdalene, Abuelita, the grocer, whoever. It's a sign of a guy with a pretty secure ego that every song does not have to be about Me, Myself, and I . . . but the ones that are, sure are winners.
