This was partly the cause for a certain amount of estrangement between Dylan and his fans many years ago when *his* songs suddenly took a turn to the impressionistic. "The Times They Are A Changing" was easy to relate to . . . "From A Buick 6" not quite so. We have to remember, though, that most art isn't created for the eyes of the beholder but for the mind and heart of the creator. That's the approach I've tried to take with Dar's new CD. Thankfully, I've been a Dylan fan for so long that I consider Dar's lyrical jog as the next logical step. The songs on "The Green World" are as meaningful to me as anything she's written, I think, because her earlier efforts have given me a sense of what she's about. "The Green World" was a difficult record for her to write; it was a difficult record to have lived. Julian Lennon, virtually penniless, had to take her to court to even get a cent of his father's huge fortune, a percentage of which most certainly was his right. What about Julian's spirit? He was her step son...after all. Ron ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Aug 2000 17:26:38 -0400 From: Elwestrand Subject: Re: [RS] Oh, Yoko... And do you personally know why she didn't want to give him any money? I know a lot of parents who don't want to give money to children. Some parents just suck, but others don't want to facilitate certain destructive lifestyles. The court's however can't take this perspective. And p.s. - I think that turning the Richard list into a debate about Yoko would be both surreal and not particularly interesting. - ---- On Mon, 28 Aug 2000, RockinRonD@aol.com (RockinRonD@aol.com) wrote: > In a message dated 8/28/2000 4:24:51 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > Elwestrand > writes: > > << Yoko was interested in John's soul and his spirit and couldn't give a > > rat's ass about fame or fortune. >> > > Um, except after the great one died, then she gave alot more than a > rat's > ass about fortune, specifically John's. I can't find it at Borders dot > com. Anyone know what album it's on? The studio album it's on is One More Goodnight Kiss, an album I like a lot. I love Canned Goods and I also love the song right before it, Cheapest Kind. I've really enjoyed reading the comments on Wisteria. It is amazing the emotions it evokes. The house across the street from me has purple wisteria all across the front of the house. I think there are four different plants, and there are two varieties, each of which blooms at a slightly different time and needs pruning at a different time. The couple who live there spend *a lot* of time trimming it every year. I get to enjoy it's incredible beauty every spring without doing any work! - --Laurel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Aug 2000 22:10:50 GMT From: "sharon g" Subject: [RS] wisteria just as wisteria makes some of you crycrycry it doesnt connect with me i grew up in a 1950s town in the 60s where i was gald to get out..milford ma the house i grew up in is a sandstone color my dad owns it and lived there since he was 3 that is not my home the home of my childhood and i blew far outta there as wisteria makes you weep playing to the firmament, another mystery, Yoko ono, afterall, we learned the sea calling the moon call sing to me.... they reach my soul like very few songs do this dar williams cd is like non that have been on the market. it is a bench mark for others to live up to it is little too little but packed dars music and lyrics are soo layered that after 3 months i still find new things in each song.. it still in my player long after SNP faded.... sharonG _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
