I posted some rather kind words about our friends, Richard & Lucy on Listen.com Hopefully my words will entice some more folk music lovers to join our little group(although I don't think it's really that "little" of a group anymore!) The link to my Lucy Review: http://www.listen.com/artdetail.jsp?artistid=14660&artpg=rev&sac=1 The link to my Richard Review: http://www.listen.com/artdetail.jsp?artistid=187699&artpg=rev&sac=1 (The link addresses should all be typed in on one line, I just couldn't fit in because of Hotmail's poor design features) If you have trouble with the links above, you can also just go to www.listen.com, then go the Folk section, type in Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky and click on where it says "Member Comments". And yes, I realized I misspelled a word(sorry) Renee Polgar dscully73@hotmail.com ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2000 21:51:04 +0100 From: "Dave McKay" Subject: [RS] Jack Hardy's Hat Meine Schwester Katrin gesagt: > Jack Hardy, is that the guy who was walking around wearing > a really funny hat at last year's FRFF? Yep. Same guy. Did it this year too. Unfortunately, Elwestrand, I have no knowledge of his music. But I guess anyone who wears a pointy witch's hat at a folk festival must be worth seeing at some time. Dave. PS Where is everyone? Did you all suddenly find yourselves at the Delaware Water Gap last Friday? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2000 17:49:04 -0400 (EDT) From: patrick t power Subject: [none] Elwestrand asked: <> Yes. I think that Jack is one of the coolest people you'll ever get to see perform, and because he doesn't tour all that heavily, it's best to catch him when you can. If you're unaware, he's oft-considered mentor to Richard, John Gorka, Shawn Colvin, and many, many more songwriters who have frequented his weekly song circle. And . . . he's a great guy. Not to mention my friend Bob, who knew Richard back then. Bob got selected to play at Kerrville this year, and brought me back some music, including two Jack Hardy CDs. They've been getting a fair bit of play in my car since then, and I'm looking forward to picking up more. - --p - -- *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* I kneel before you, bearing a crown Merciful princess, won't you look down I'm drinking your waters, I'm clutching your sleeve You're further inside me than you'd ever believe --Robyn Hitchcock Patrick Cahn, and dog Soba too patrick.cahn@the-spa.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 00:08:52 -0400 (EDT) From: patrick t power Subject: [none] Some time ago, Ronno wrote: <> I disagree with this. As far as I can tell, Dar does not have any male backing vocals on TGW. I could be wrong on this but I don't think so. A good deal of the harmonies seem to be her own voice. I do agree with the general consensus ... Richard and Lucy are not on this disc for purely *musical* reasons ... they would obviously have harmonized beautifully, but that is not the product Dar wished to put together this time. No personality conflicts. No alien conspiracies. No second man on the grassy knoll. Dave. ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #204 ***********************************
