It sums up a lot of the things we've discussed over the years about independent vs. major labels, and why our favorite artists choose to stay independent. I am very impressed that Courtney Love could express it all so well. http://www.salon.com/tech/feature/2000/06/14/love/index.html enjoy ------------------------------ Date: Fri Jun 16 14:29:56 2000 From: Sdgold60@aol.com Subject: [RS] Lucy at the Brokerage hey Ronno you didnt ask me my opinion on the DAR record...at lucy maybe i would have had another take. i think you need to wait and see... that is what i would have said maybe there are reasons for the production that YOU dont know and were you Supposed to repeat those comments???? sharonG ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 22:33:34 EDT From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] A Little Dish << Here's an interesting tidbit I picked up: Neither Richard nor Lucy are on Dar's new record. Not at all. Nada. Zilch. Niente. And when I asked Lucy if she'd heard Dar's new record she said: "No...have you?" Hmmmm. Anybody make anything of this? >> I don't. Dar's never been on a Lucy record. Lucy's only appearance on a Dar record was "Christians/Pagans." Richard's only appearance on a Dar record was "If I Wrote You." Dar's relationship with Richard and/or Lucy has NEVER been as close as Richard's and Lucy's relationship with each other. But even if it were, I guess my feeling is that records are not necessarily a place to showcase your pals just for camaraderie's sake. If you're Dar Williams, and neither your songs nor the way you've decided to produce your record call for Richard's or Lucy's voice, why force it? They've each been *more* than generous to the other two with the whole Cry3 thing -- putting individual careers on the back burner for the good of the whole. No sense in looking for dirt where there probably isn't any.
