Tawdry but fun--the kind of show you can watch and feel superior. And most people have their shirts on, unlike "Cops." And Mike--funny that you mention that John MacDonnell--I am a lawyer just like he was, but that is where the similarity ends, as he was far braver than I could ever hope (don't you just love Wikipedia?) I didn't realize there was audience participation. I think I've said before there's a difference between an acoustic show and a rock show. I've been on the floor for both Springsteen and McCartney and it was awesome to sing along, but I would never do that at any event under 1,000 people. I mentioned when I saw RS last Spring that my husband saved us seats in the front row, and while the thought was so sweet on the hub's part, I didn't like having to consciously having to keep RS from tripping on my feet and doing my best not to get a fret in the face from the guy (Rad?) who was playing with him on tour. I've never seen a side guy with so much action and was sure there were going to be Pete Townshend windmills from him before the night was over... That's not quite as bad as an incessant crowd singer, but it was pretty distracting for me. ..CL On Thu, Oct 31, 2013 at 9:36 PM, Laurence Krulik wrote: > The guy singing along really needs to stop. > > On Oct 31, 2013, at 9:01 PM, Carol Love wrote: > > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew1YA6qff-s ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 Nov 2013 08:39:38 -0400 From: Georgette deFriesse Subject: Re: [RS] Subject of the Night... I'm going to add to the complaints. I saw Richard at the Parlor Room in Northampton on Wednesday. Some chick sitting behind me was tapping her foot hard enough to shake our table--it was something halfway between a tap and a stomp--and at one point was snapping her fingers. She had the rhythmic sense of a Skid Row drunk. Her exertions were extremely distracting and truly taxed the thin veneer of civilization that prevents me from punching the lights out of idiots such as she. To echo was Mike said, I did not pay $20.00 to experience her attention-seeking behaviors, or whatever it was all about. Thanks Georgette, As I know many like to sing, and I know I might get some replys saying they have the right to sing, whatever. I feel they are being disrespectful to the others listening. Now if the artist says to sing, then its another can of issues for me. I really came to hear the artist sing not those in the audience. Sing at home, oh and talking while they are singing, why?
