The song was previously sung by Nancy Griffith - Richard played it many moons ago, e.g., 2000 in Austin -> http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/richard-shindell/2000/temple-of-music-and-art-tucson-az-5bd1df4c.html Would be something different than "Cold Missouri Waters" (which is great, don't get me wrong) or "Love in Vain" (which is too bluesy for my taste). I've seen Richard six times now, and every concert had at least two songs I've never heard live before. And only three songs were played at all six concerts (AYHN, Mavis, Transit). This is something I really enjoy about his concerts: You don't get a greatest hits set but a nice snapshot, often with requests and spontaneous songs added to the set. Some listeners might frown at forgotten lines and false starts - but I really like Richard's approach to his live set. Johannes PS: I also thought of adding "Shades of Gray" to my list, but it's a really American song, I guess, and I doubt Richard would play it unrehearsed with its zillion lines of lyrics. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Aug 2013 14:55:40 -0400 From: Vanessa Wills Subject: [RS] Happy Birthday to Richard Hello, all, It's Richard's birthday, today. A fine occasion to break out your fave RS album and perhaps spare the man a fond thought. :) - --V ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V12 #484 ************************************
