I also liked Ron's segue. :) Like Gina, I found it interesting that "Reunion Hill" beat "Mary Magdalene" by the widest margin of any head-to-head match-up in the Elite Eight. MM was the one song that I personally felt wasn't quite the level of heavy-hitter as the others. On the other hand, while I voted for "Nora" and "Fishing", I had no objective reason for preferring them to "Courier" and "Transit". They were just the songs that resonated with me more. I now have one song I'm rooting for above the others, but really any of these Final Four would be a very worthy Much Madness Champion in my book. Before that, though, we have to get through the Top Two. I'm half-expecting that to pit lister against lister when we come to it. All in good fun! - --V On Thu, Mar 7, 2013 at 10:42 PM, gina wrote: > Mary Magdelene didn't put up much of a fight, did she? For what it's worth, I think Ron's more like a savvier version of that nice horse in Animal Farm. Loyal. Reliable. Hard-working. You know the kind of thing. But your Orwellian reference may vary. OK, with one nail-biter and one blowout, here are the winners of the Elite Eight round. 1. Courier (25) over Nora (18) 2. Reunion Hill (36) over Mary Magdalene (7) 3. Transit (23) over Fishing (20) 4. Wisteria (26) over You Stay Here (17) You think the merge from the Turnpike was murder? Match-ups for the Final Four are coming soon. I haven't actually counted the votes, but it seems to me that "Nora" is getting quite a few. I mean, it's a fine song and all, but REALLY? 2. Reunion Hill (over Mary Magdalene) -- love MM, but love Reunion Hill more. 3. Transit (over Fishing) -- This was the first RS song I ever heard, back in 2000. (Or maybe not. We went to a Cry3 show in 1998, so very likely heard Dar sing Mary Magdalene, but don't specifically remember that.) Heard "Transit" on the local community radio station, followed by the announcement that Richard would be playing a small venue near us the next weekend. Went to that, was hooked forever. So the sentimental factor makes it a pretty easy pick for me, over another great song. 4. Wisteria (over You Stay Here) -- I like how Johannes put it, "beauty over haunting." Though they're very different songs, the beauty of "Wisteria" strikes me in the same fashion as Dave & Tracy's "Kate and the Ghost of Lost Love." - -Dave ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Mar 2013 21:37:27 -0500 From: "Sue Maskaleris" Subject: RE: [RS] Elite Eight results. >>>>>>>>>>>>You think the merge from the Turnpike was murder?
