You Stay Here b This is a tough one, I like both songs. I especially like the alternate version of Marianabs Table but having said that, I must go with You Stay Here. Itbs too powerful song to me and that gives its nudge ahead of Marianabs Table. I really loved the way Show Of Hands covered it, with Richard on back-up. 2. A Tune For Nowhere b neither one of these are ones I care for especially but for me the girl learning the flute while a war is going on shows me therebs always hope for the future. Otherwise why go on? 3. Wisteria b Wisteria has always been a favorite of mine, a song that makes me think of when I was a teenager, while not a particularly happy time in my life, it was where I felt that I belonged. 4. Last Fare Of The Day B 5. TV Light b While I also like Ascent, TV Light really grabbed me. Ibm told he never performed this song in concert but I swear I heard him sing it at the first festival I went to in 2000, New Bedford Summerfest. I had never heard of him before and I didnbt buy any of his cds until a month later when we were at Falcon Ridge where he was performing. So I canbt imagine where I wouldbve heard it. B But I love it! 6. Balloon Man b I love this song because itbs just so descriptive. He paints quite a detailed picture and I do prefer the alternate version.B Therebs parts of Easy Street I just donbt get. 7. FenarioB - - Just for the guitar alone. 8. Howling At The Trouble B B B B 9.B You Again b a beautifully sad declaration of love! 10. Parasol Ants b love the imagery, I can just see it happening and Ibve never been a fan of There Goes Mavis 11.B State of the Union 12. On A Sea Of Fleur-De-Lis b I absolutely love this song and still do. Donbt know what it means but I just love it.B B 13. Mary Magdalene - So Says The Whipporwill b Ibm afraid I just canbt choose between these two. I love them both equally for very different reasons. I love the live version of whippoorwill with the added verse.B Mary Magdalen, I love because it really makes Jesus real to me.B Janet ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Feb 2013 16:29:58 -0500 From: "cvz" Subject: Re: [RS] Much Madness, Round One. I need to re listen to a few of these ....but no time so here are my picks. I love a complex song; one in which I can feel the fear, pain, and sadness of life in the lyrics. That being said 1. Mariana's Table **You Stay Here** - I like both but this one is more thought provoking 2. A Tune For Nowhere **Waiting For The Storm** These are a tossup but wfts has more depth. 3. **Abuelita** - Wisteria is a good one but Abuelita is absolutely heart wrenching. Wisteria 4. ** Last Fare Of The Day** neither one of these is a big favorite of mine although lfotd has a lot of fans. Get Up Clara 5. **Ascent** TV Light 6. **Balloon Man** b a poignant story about the human condition Easy Street 7. Confession **Fenario For some reason I like these backtracks to our early war times. So nostalgic and easy to id with. 8. Howling At The Trouble **By Now -Yes very frightening if you hear it the way I do. 9. **I Saw My Youth Today** You Again 10. Parasol Ants **There Goes Mavis** Not sure why. I like the departure from his traditional 11. **One Man's Arkansas** State of the Union 12. ** On A Sea Of Fleur-De-Lis **This one is fun and whimsical, and I'm afraid I almost dislike Hazel's house which to me is too happy, too mundane, almost banal. One of my least favorites. But then thatbs just me. Hazel's House 13. **Mary Magdalene so original and again, thought provoking! Ron *says* he used a "randomizer". I want to see the hanging chads on this one!! (Do International friends get that reference to the 2000 American president election??) Ron, If a consistent theme keeps coming up such as, the Abuelita vs. Wisteria decision was like sitting through all 150 minutes of "Sophie's Choice" again, would you consider a "Wild Card" pick???
