For Last Fare of the Day they do. From St Lukes Hospital (1111 Amsterdam Ave) one would go north for a mile before switching over to the Hudson Parkway and crossing the river on the GW bridge. Englewood is north of the bridge, but one would proceed south on 95 (which actually heads north at that point) before exiting onto NJ 4. The entire trip is 8.3 miles and takes about 16 minutes. I've used a similar, technique to examine other songs such as Gethsemani Goodbye, another favorite of mine. In that case I could not identify where the turn was that he missed, but one would certainly head south from Louisville and then south on the Bardstown road to get there. Another song writer (and personal favorite of mine) that uses similar precession in his songs is Ian Tyson. I have to plug a recent video for any old Ian and Sylvia fans on this list, This is My Sky. For some inexplicable reason it has not been widely distributed in the US, but you can find a few sources with google. It's a two DVD set that contains both history as well a number of fantastic live performances of old favorites featuring Ian's "new" voice. I highly recommend it. /Don ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V12 #206 ************************************
