Thanks so much for sharing! I was quite taken by Deer on the Parkway. I don't know if it's because I've driven on the actual highway it's about or the fact that this year there seems to be a huge influx of deer in and around this part of Long Island. I've lived here for over 20 years and never have I encountered so many deer. Very pretty animals but they're becoming a real danger. You just never know when they're going to dart out in front of you! I'm sure I"m not the only one on this list that's wondering what the sequel to Before you Go sounds like? Do you have anything on you tube we could see/hear? Janet - --- On Wed, 11/23/11, Johannes Schult wrote: > however, I'm not > too big a fan of self-referential songs. Last Sunday during the concert at the Green Note in London, Richard remarked that the album will be released in the U.S. "next week". Speaking of the album, I quite like it! I think it makes for a good summary for people who attend one of Richard's concerts and want something similar on CD (without having to buy all his albums at once). Richard indicated that he compiled the album for his opening gig with Show of Hands. The layout and packaging is somewhat sparse, but the recordings sound very good in my opinion. There's hardly any drums to be heard; naturally, a couple songs sound "worse" than the original, but others sound more intense, more dynamic (e.g., Waiting for the Storm). "Satellites" was included for two reasons, according to Richard: 1) It was one of the (few?) songs that were ready (i.e., completely recorded) and 2) it is a topical song that fits the currents headlines. You can listen to the song (aptly titled "After I Have Gone") at http://manticess.bandcamp.com/track/after-i-have-gone-2 - there's also the lyrics. The song sounds rather Christmas-y, I guess, and not really Shindell-y given the female voice... Anyway, I think I'll get a chance to dwell on the lyrical side of "Deer on the Parkway" in the future. I only hope it won't turn the song into something creepy like "that other" interpretation of "By Now", which, well, changed the song quite a bit in my ears.
