Janet, he covered my favorite Terence Martin song, Sleeper. Here's the setlist: 1. Balloon Man 2. Deer on the Parkway (new song. Was originally going to be "Deer on the Saw Mill" but he was afraid people who weren't from the NY area would misunderstand. Ew.) 3. Sleeper by T. Martin (he spoke briefly about Terence and about the benefit show) 4. Mavis 5. Clara 6. Satellites (new song) 7. Waiting for the Storm 8. Your Guitar (new song) 9. All My Love Is In Vain (Robert Johnson cover) 10. Fishing 11. Are You Happy Now 12. Reunion Hill 13. Last Fare of the Day 14. Somewhere Near Paterson Encore: Next Best Western The audience seemed pretty familiar with his music, and there was much shouting out from the audience and requests for older songs. (I thought maybe the coming snowstorm was a sign of hell freezing over and he'd play The Weather, but no luck.) Isabel > Janet > P.S. I'm hoping this makes it through. I never saw the last email I sent about Terence Martin. I had wondered if Richard would cover one of his songs and which one would he choose. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Oct 2011 15:18:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Janet Cinelli Subject: [RS] Port Washington show Went to the show last night, Gene we saw you and Isabel! Looks like you had great seats too. It was a great show, he played his usual ones, including AYHN, I guess he had to with Halloween a few days away. He was under the impression it was today. The highlights for me were: playing my favorite Terence Martin song, Sleeper on a Westbound Train. Here is Terence himself playing it: http://youtu.be/JceW6_Zt6Gw Richard played two new songs that I really loved and can't wait until he puts out his new cd, which is going to be a year away, from what he said. One is called The Deer on the Parkway. He said he wanted to call it Deer on the Sawmill but didn't think it would go over well anywhere outside of New York. (Sawmill River Parkway) I really liked that one and the other one was called Your Guitar. He bought a guitar that belonged to someone who was involved in Crazy Heart. I'm afraid I can't remember his name but the song is really quite beautiful. A great show, with Richard being in good spirits. Perhaps, he's already envisioning himself on his sabbatical! Sandy and I came in during the first song and there was no intermission and people seemed to leave quickly at the end, so we didn't see anyone except some family sitting in front of us. I didn't think Gene and Isabel were there because I didn't hear anyone call out for The Weather when Richard asked for requests.
